Big-Headed Dinosaur Visits the Mall
The big-headed dinosaur woke up groggily after sleeping for many, many years in a hidden cave.
It wandered around the mountain but couldn’t find a single companion. Instead, it saw many tall buildings at the foot of the mountain.
Yes, while the big-headed dinosaur was sleeping, a modern city had sprung up below.
“I should go play down there; maybe I’ll find my friends!” thought the big-headed dinosaur.
The big-headed dinosaur followed the mountain path and walked straight down to the wide road at the bottom. Hoo-hoo—its big nostrils kept blowing out hot air. It was exhausted from the long walk.
Beep-beep—honk-honk. Cars of all kinds zoomed past on the road.
This was truly something new! The big-headed dinosaur saw many people get into a big long box—a bus. Since its body and head were too big to fit through the small door, it climbed onto the roof of the bus.
The bus started moving, slowly like a snail. The driver was puzzled; the bus wasn’t full, so why did it feel so heavy? Maybe the tires were flat. Hmm, the tires did look flat, pressed down.
The bus crawled into the city, but before it reached the stop, it accidentally ran over a small rock. With a loud bang, a tire burst! The big-headed dinosaur was startled and quickly jumped off the bus, rushing into a nearby mall—fortunately, the mall had a big enough door.
Wow! The mall was bustling with people and filled with a variety of shops. The big-headed dinosaur was dazzled and happily followed the crowd. Soon, it noticed that everyone was dressed neatly. Looking at itself, it realized it was completely naked and felt embarrassed.
Being naked is uncivilized, even though it was used to it, but this was human society!
So, the big-headed dinosaur hurried into a clothing store, hoping to find something to wear. But there were no clothes big enough for it. No matter how many it tried, even the largest clothes could only fit one of its arms, let alone its big head.
How disappointing! Didn’t they think a dinosaur might need clothes?
Frustrated, the big-headed dinosaur left the clothing store.
“Gurgle,” its stomach growled. No wonder—it hadn’t eaten anything since waking up!
Conveniently, there was a restaurant nearby, with enticing aromas wafting out. Ignoring its nakedness, the big-headed dinosaur rushed in.
The restaurant had never had such a large customer before! The owner prepared many dishes, filling the tables with plates of all sizes. But the big-headed dinosaur didn’t want to use chopsticks or spoons; it found them too troublesome.
Instead, it lifted the plates and poured the food directly into its mouth. After finishing one table’s worth of food, it still wasn’t full and ran into the kitchen, devouring raw cabbages, eggplants, tomatoes, pumpkins…
These were the restaurant’s vegetables for the day! The owner was on the verge of tears but didn’t dare to stop the guest. If he accidentally got eaten, that would be trouble. Fortunately, judging by what the big-headed dinosaur ate, it seemed to be a herbivore.
Finally full, the big-headed dinosaur patted its round belly, burped, and left the restaurant satisfied, leaving the owner stunned—yes, the dinosaur didn’t pay for the food.
The big-headed dinosaur continued wandering the mall, soon attracted by loud sounds. Ha, it had found a cinema! Seeing many dinosaur posters on the wall, the big-headed dinosaur got excited, thinking,
“Are there companions inside?”
Following the sound, the big-headed dinosaur quickly entered the screening room. Of course, it didn’t buy a ticket and didn’t know it needed one. The nearsighted ticket seller mistook it for a mascot.
Unfortunately, there were no real dinosaurs in the screening room; people were watching a dinosaur movie. Disappointed, the big-headed dinosaur sat in the front row near the screen. Its big head blocked many viewers’ views. After being reminded by the audience, it reluctantly moved to the back row.
In the movie, the dinosaur was a villain, causing destruction everywhere. The big-headed dinosaur found it boring and soon started snoring. The snoring from its big mouth was louder than the explosions in the movie, and the audience couldn’t take it, complaining to the cinema staff.
“Ring-ring…” The police station’s phone rang non-stop.
“A big-headed dinosaur ruined all the clothes in my store!”
“A big-headed dinosaur ate without paying in my restaurant!”
“A big-headed dinosaur is snoring in the cinema!”
All the calls pointed to one thing: a big-headed dinosaur was causing trouble in the mall!
Soon, the sheriff and police chief arrived at the mall with a team of officers, surrounding Big Head the Dinosaur.
“The city doesn’t welcome a troublemaking dinosaur. Now, you need to go home!”
There were no laws regarding dinosaurs in the legal code, and Big Head the Dinosaur had no knowledge of such matters. Therefore, the police chief couldn’t punish it and could only ask it to leave.
Big Head the Dinosaur slowly walked out of the mall. It didn’t want to go home at all; home was too boring. It hadn’t had enough fun in the city yet, and it hadn’t made a single friend!
The more it thought about it, the more upset it became. It plopped down in the middle of the road and started crying and rolling around on the ground.
This caused a huge traffic jam. The street was filled with the sounds of car collisions, honking, and shouting, creating utter chaos.
The police chief was troubled; he didn’t know how to handle this big guy.
“I don’t think Big Head the Dinosaur is causing trouble on purpose!” suggested a citizen who walked over. “Why not take Big Head to the amusement park? It’s spacious, has lots of fun things to do, and is filled with joy and noise. It should be perfect for it!”
The police chief thought this was a good idea, but he was still hesitant. “The amusement park is full of kids. What if Big Head the Dinosaur scares them?”
“I think kids know better than us how to get along with a big-headed dinosaur.”
Indeed, this citizen had a child who was a dinosaur fanatic, with all kinds of dinosaur toys at home. His greatest wish was to see a real dinosaur.
Big Head the Dinosaur arrived at the amusement park!
It was truly a sea of joy. Upbeat songs were playing from loudspeakers, there were various rides everywhere, and countless children’s smiling faces filled the scene.
The arrival of Big Head the Dinosaur at the amusement park caused a sensation. All the kids rushed over, extremely excited!
The children loved Big Head the Dinosaur, and Big Head loved the children too. They quickly became good friends and played together.
Big Head the Dinosaur loved the water attractions the most—swimming, surfing, and letting kids sit on its head to drift along.
Big Head the Dinosaur was having a great time when suddenly it heard cries of alarm. “Whoa—” It looked up and saw that too many kids were crowding on the water slide, waiting to play with it. The slide couldn’t hold up and was about to collapse!
The slide was full of kids, and there were also kids below. The situation was extremely dangerous. Without any hesitation, Big Head the Dinosaur took a big step forward and used its large head to firmly support the slide—the kids were safe.
Immediately, everyone cheered, celebrating the children’s safety and the bravery of Big Head the Dinosaur.
Big Head the Dinosaur became a hero! The mayor personally awarded it a medal—ten times the size of a normal medal to match its big head—and solemnly announced, “Big Head the Dinosaur is the most beloved dinosaur in the history of our city!”
Now, Big Head the Dinosaur had countless friends, and all the citizens were willing to befriend it. Because it wasn’t a troublemaking bad dinosaur; it was a friendly and good dinosaur that loved making friends!
