bedtime stories for kids about bears: Two Silly Bears
Mama Bear had two children, one named Big Black and the other Little Black. They were quite chubby, but also very silly—they were two silly bears.
One day, it was a beautiful day, and the two brothers went out to play hand in hand. As they were walking, they suddenly saw a piece of meat by the roadside. They picked it up and sniffed it. Oh, it smelled so good! But there was only one piece of meat, so how could the two little bears share it? Big Black was afraid that Little Black would eat more, and Little Black was afraid that Big Black would eat more. What a dilemma!
Big Black said, “Let’s split it and eat, but it has to be fair—my piece can’t be smaller than yours.”
Little Black said, “Right, it has to be fair—your piece can’t be bigger than mine.”
The two brothers were arguing when Auntie Fox came by. She saw the meat, and her eyes gleamed. She said, “Oh, you’re worried about it being unfair, aren’t you? Let Auntie help you divide it.” The two brothers said, “Great, great, let’s have Auntie Fox divide it.”
Auntie Fox took the meat. She wanted to gobble it up in one bite, but she didn’t do that. Instead, she split the meat into two pieces. The brothers looked at the pieces and immediately shouted, “No, no! One piece is bigger, and the other is smaller!”
Auntie Fox said, “Don’t worry, see? This piece is a bit bigger, so I’ll just take a bite.” Auntie Fox opened her big mouth and took a bite. The brothers looked again and shouted, “No, no! The big piece has become smaller now because you took a bite!”
Auntie Fox said, “Why are you in such a hurry? Now this piece is bigger, so I’ll just take another bite.” Auntie Fox opened her big mouth and took another bite. The brothers looked again and were anxious, “That big piece got bitten again and has become small now.”
Auntie Fox kept taking bites, one from this piece and one from that piece, until there was only a tiny bit of meat left, as small as a little finger. She gave the tiny pieces to Big Black and Little Black and said, “Now both pieces are the same size, so go ahead and eat, eat till you’re full.”
Big Black and Little Black looked at each other, speechless.
Children, tell me, aren’t they two silly bears?
