Beaver Story: A Boat of Friendship
The Beaver lived alone by the riverside, with no neighbors nearby. In front of his house, a river flowed gently and peacefully. The Beaver had a habit—every morning, he would fold a small boat out of colorful paper, write on its sail, “Friend, wishing you happiness!” and then quietly let the boat drift away with the current.
He had kept this habit for many years.
One day, the quiet riverside suddenly became lively. Just as the Beaver was setting his small boat into the water, a group of animals surrounded him. Among them were a hedgehog, an otter, a sable, and two little frogs. They all happily exclaimed, “Aha! We’ve found you! So it was you who made these boats. Thank you!”
The Beaver felt very surprised and didn’t know what was going on.
At that moment, the Otter spoke up. He said, “We all live along this river, and every morning, we see a small paper boat with ‘Friend, wishing you happiness’ written on it floating downstream. It makes us feel so warm inside.”
“Yes,” the Sable continued, “Sometimes, when something unpleasant happens to me, just seeing this little boat and thinking that there’s a friend out there who cares about me, I throw all my worries into the river.”
“Mr. Beaver, you’ve brought happiness to all of us!” the two little frogs chimed in eagerly.
“That’s why,” said the Hedgehog, as if summing up, “we all came together to find this kind-hearted friend who folds the boats—and it turns out it’s you, Mr. Beaver!”
“Really?” the Beaver said happily. “I didn’t know my little boats would bring you all so much joy. I thought I was very lonely, but it turns out I have so many friends!”
Everyone clapped and laughed, saying, “Yes, let’s all be good friends. Even though we’re far apart, the little boats have connected us, and none of us are alone…”
