Bear Story: The New Little Brown Bear
A new friend joined the middle class at the Animal Kindergarten. He was very tall, big, and not very fond of smiling—a little brown bear.
“Little Brown Bear, you sit with Little Rabbit!” said Teacher Zebra.
Little Brown Bear nodded and walked over to sit next to Little Rabbit. Little Rabbit was sitting on a long bench. When he saw Little Brown Bear coming, he quickly scooted over to the side.
Little Brown Bear sat down with a plop, and with a “thud,” he pushed Little Rabbit to the ground.
“Ouch!” Little Rabbit somersaulted, rubbing his sore bottom, and feeling a bit scared of his new desk mate.
Teacher Zebra said to Little Brown Bear, “Little Brown Bear, you’re strong. You need to be careful with the smaller friends, okay?”
Little Brown Bear nodded and softly said, “Okay.”
Little Rabbit sat back on the bench, and so did Little Brown Bear. This time, Little Brown Bear didn’t dare to squeeze Little Rabbit. Instead, he sat on the edge of the bench. Suddenly, with a “boing,” the bench tipped up, flinging Little Rabbit off the other end.
“Ah!” Little Rabbit was thrown high into the air, his long ears standing straight up in fright, his whole body trembling.
Luckily, Teacher Zebra was nearby. He heard the commotion and quickly ran over, catching Little Rabbit and preventing a disaster.
It seemed that Little Brown Bear couldn’t sit with Little Rabbit. After thinking for a bit, Teacher Zebra seated Little Brown Bear with Little Hippo. This arrangement was perfect; Little Hippo neither got pushed to the ground nor flung into the air.
The morning of Little Brown Bear’s first day was indeed restless! All the kids thought Little Brown Bear was too bossy and rough!
During outdoor playtime, Little Hippo was running around and accidentally fell. Little Brown Bear quickly ran over and helped Little Hippo up.
“Thank you!” Little Hippo said sincerely.
“No… no problem,” Little Brown Bear said quietly.
“Oh no, my ball fell into the pool!” Little Monkey shouted by the poolside.
Little Brown Bear heard this and quickly ran over. He grabbed a broom from the wall, fished Little Monkey’s ball out of the pool, picked it up, and handed it back to Little Monkey.
“Thank you!” Little Monkey said sincerely.
“You’re… you’re welcome,” Little Brown Bear said softly.
Little Rabbit and Little Goat were playing badminton and accidentally hit the shuttlecock into a tree branch.
“Oh no!” Little Rabbit said worriedly, “What do we do now?”
Little Brown Bear saw this and walked over, hugged the tree trunk, and shook it hard. Haha, the shuttlecock fell down, great!
“Thank you!” Little Rabbit said sincerely.
“Hehe,” Little Brown Bear touched his head and smiled sweetly, a bit sheepishly.
Although Little Brown Bear didn’t smile much when he first arrived and even pushed Little Rabbit to the ground and flung him into the air, he was definitely not a rough little bear. He was a shy little bear who liked to help others. Little Brown Bear made many good friends at school and spent every day happily and joyfully!
