Ants and the Watermelon Story
One hot summer day, four ants out foraging discovered a watermelon. The watermelon was big, red, and full of juice—so enticing! They used a drill to make a hole and got inside the watermelon, then came back out, thinking of taking the watermelon home.
One ant, two ants, four ants—they pushed and pushed, but it wouldn’t budge, and they collapsed to the ground, exhausted. They sent one ant back to the ant castle to get reinforcements. The ant shouted, “Hey, we found something good on the grass!”
The ant kingdom was always busy and orderly.
Look, this is probably the kitchen of the ant kingdom. See how they use a magnifying glass to light a fire and have even made a range hood.
Look, these ants are working out in the gym. Do you know why this ant is bouncing on toothpaste? Because it’s the quickest and easiest way to squeeze out toothpaste for brushing.
Look, the ant cobbler is repairing shoes for the ant family members. See, the ants are growing mushrooms using leaves. I read that ants can grow mushrooms with leaves, and today I finally saw it.
Look, the ants are using small buckets to pour water; they can even use faucets.
The ants made a lever out of sticks and stones, but the watermelon didn’t move at all. (Archimedes once said, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.” These ants were so smart, they even knew the principle of leverage.)
They dug with shovels, but the watermelon was so big that they could only scoop out a little bit each time. However, with their combined strength, they kept digging, and the watermelon finally loosened. Then they used a crane to transport the watermelon.
Their castle turned into a sea of red, filled with sweet, delicious, juicy watermelon. Even the bottles were filled with tasty watermelon juice. But too much watermelon also brought them trouble. They decided to eat the rest of the watermelon, and their bellies were about to burst. They lay on the ground, resting.
They made a slide out of the watermelon rind, sitting on leaves and sliding down quickly. They were having so much fun!
