Animal stories: black cat

The sky was blue, and a few clouds, like cotton, drifted leisurely. The sun, like a ripe apple, hung high in the sky. The little black cat felt warm all over and lazily lay under a big tree, watching a group of ants busily coming and going.

The little black cat greeted the ants enthusiastically, “Hi, are you all going to a temple fair?”

“We’re not that leisurely; we’re moving house because it’s going to rain. You should go home quickly,” one of the ants said hurriedly before scurrying away.

“Hmm…” The little black cat squinted and looked at the sky. The cotton-like clouds now seemed like rags trying to cover the sun, but half of the sun’s face was still shining brightly.

“What a bunch of little fools! How can it rain with such a good sun?” After saying this, the little black cat changed to a more comfortable position and continued basking in the sun.

Just then, there was a loud rumble of thunder. The little black cat shuddered, leaped up from the ground, raised its tail, and sprinted home at full speed. It closed the door and quickly shut the windows because the little black cat was very afraid of thunder.

Boom! An even louder thunderclap exploded, followed by the sound of heavy rain. The little black cat dived under the blanket, covering its ears tightly.

At this moment, there seemed to be a knock at the door.

“No way, who would come at this time?” thought the little black cat.

The knocking sounded again, seemingly more urgent than before.

“Who is it?” the little black cat asked, trembling, as it poked its head out from under the blanket.

“Little black cat, please open the door. Can we come in to shelter from the rain?” It was the voice of the little rabbit, with a sobbing tone.

“Oh, come in quickly.”

The little black cat hurriedly opened the door. Beside the little rabbit was a little squirrel, clinging tightly to her. They were both soaked, with water dripping down.

“Hurry up and dry yourselves.” The little black cat quickly handed them a towel. “Be careful, don’t catch a cold.”

Just then, another thunderclap exploded. The little black cat jumped in fright, covering its ears tightly. This time, it didn’t dive under the blanket because the little rabbit and the little squirrel had already crawled under it.

“Little black cat, come in quickly!” the little rabbit called out, her voice trembling.

“Ah, it’s okay, I…” The little black cat hesitated and said, “I’m not afraid.”

In truth, when it said this, its heart was beating faster than the raindrops outside.

Boom, boom, the thunder grew louder, shaking the whole room. The rain poured down as if a naughty child had poked several holes in the sky, and it was pouring down noisily.

The little rabbit and the little squirrel started crying, “Oh no… the sky is falling.”

The little black cat calmed itself down, sat next to them, and gently patted them, saying, “Don’t be afraid, it’s okay. If the sky falls, I’ll hold it up. I’m the tallest, don’t be scared, I’m here.”

After saying this, the little black cat, trembling, pulled out a storybook and started reading aloud.

Gradually, the little black cat felt that courage, like a seed, was sprouting and blossoming in its heart, pushing out the fear bit by bit.

Gradually, the little rabbit’s big ears peeked out from under the blanket.

Next, the little squirrel’s round head popped out from under the blanket.

They were both captivated by the story.

Outside, the thunder roared and lightning flashed, but the three little ones inside couldn’t hear it anymore because they were all absorbed in the wonderful story.

The rain stopped, and the bright sun came out again. The little rabbit and the little squirrel were about to go home. When they said goodbye, they hugged the little black cat’s neck and said, “Little black cat, you’re the best! The bravest!”

The little black cat happily watched the little rabbit and the little squirrel hopping away and asked itself, “Am I the best, the bravest?”

Of course! Helping others makes the heart feel wonderful!
