A Rain of Good Moods
The clouds in the sky take on various shapes: some look like dinosaurs, some like elephants, some like sheep, some like little rabbits, some like small fish, some like slow-moving turtles, some like flapping butterflies, tiny ants, and buzzing bees. In short, you can find a cloud resembling any animal on earth.
One day, the clouds gathered at the horizon, riding the wind. They whispered softly, discussing a secret just for them.
“Should we pour down a torrential rain like a shower of flowers, or should we let down a light drizzle, or should one cloud pile on top of another to cover the round face of the sun, play a game of hide and seek, scare the people and animals below, and then disperse?” said the little fish cloud and the big turtle cloud leisurely, swaying their heads.
Little fish cloud and big turtle cloud: “You decide, heavy rain or light rain, both are fine.”
Dinosaur cloud and elephant cloud: “Of course, it should be a torrential rain, so the grass can drink its fill and grow as tall as trees, the small trees can drink their fill and become big trees, and the big trees can drink their fill and become super thick and tall. Finally, the whole world will turn into a huge forest.”
When the dinosaur cloud and elephant cloud got excited, they couldn’t help but grin. The sheep cloud and rabbit cloud hurriedly said: “If the world turns into a forest, it will be hard to see the sun. I think we should just let down a light drizzle, enough to wet the ground. Heavy rain means mud and water everywhere, wet and dirty, not fun at all.”
The beautiful butterfly cloud, ant cloud, and bee cloud said: “If it’s about fun, we should play hide and seek, and not even let down a drizzle.”
The clouds discussed back and forth. The bright sun moved from the east to the west, and they still couldn’t reach a consensus. Who should they listen to? The clouds looked at each other, unsure of what to do. At this moment, the phoenix cloud stepped forward and said: “I have a good idea. We can let down a rain of love.”
The clouds: “What’s a rain of love?”
All the clouds immediately focused their attention on the phoenix cloud.
The phoenix cloud said: “We can find the animal we resemble the most and let down a special rain just for them, based on what they need.”
Hearing the phoenix cloud’s suggestion, the clouds all found it fun and immediately agreed. That evening, the animals on the ground experienced the most special rain of their lives.
The next day, when the animals happily stepped out of their homes and gathered under a big tree, they joyfully talked about yesterday’s rain. The animals who liked heavy rain said: “That downpour was so refreshing.”
The animals who liked light rain said: “That drizzle was so nourishing.”
The animals who didn’t like rain said: “The sky was so overcast yesterday, luckily it didn’t rain.”
As they spoke, they all looked up at the clouds in the sky and shouted together: “Thank you, clouds, for giving us a rain of good moods.”
