A Rabbit Family’s New House
The rabbit family built a new house next to a lush green carrot field.
How should they decorate the new house? Daddy Rabbit and Mommy Rabbit excitedly discussed.
“I want to paint the new house a beautiful pink,” said Mommy Rabbit.
“No way, that’s too ugly. Sky blue would look much better!” Daddy Rabbit immediately opposed.
Mommy Rabbit was a bit upset and angrily said, “Pink looks cheerful and as warm as spring.”
Daddy Rabbit was also a bit upset and angrily said, “Sky blue looks relaxing and as cool as autumn.”
“I like pink!”
“I like sky blue!”
Mommy Rabbit and Daddy Rabbit argued back and forth from morning until night. Mommy Rabbit’s voice became hoarse, and Daddy Rabbit started yawning, but neither would give in. During dinner, Mommy Rabbit ate tender lettuce with Baby Rabbit, not even glancing at Daddy Rabbit.
The next morning, Daddy Rabbit said, “Every room in the new house should have crystal chandeliers.”
Mommy Rabbit immediately opposed, saying, “No, crystal chandeliers are too glaring. Floor lamps with lace trim are more comfortable.”
Daddy Rabbit was a bit upset and angrily said, “Crystal chandeliers are luxurious and will make the new house shine like a palace!”
Mommy Rabbit was also a bit upset and angrily said, “Floor lamps are cozy and soft, and will make the new house look as enchanting as a fairyland!”
“I like crystal chandeliers!”
“I like floor lamps!”
Daddy Rabbit and Mommy Rabbit argued again from morning until night, and they were so angry they went to bed without dinner.
On the third morning, Mommy Rabbit looked at Daddy Rabbit and noticed his eyes were as red as if they had been painted with red ink. Daddy Rabbit looked at Mommy Rabbit and noticed her eyes were as red as if they had been painted with lipstick.
During breakfast, Mommy Rabbit said, “I want to buy a room full of new toys for Baby Rabbit.”
Daddy Rabbit, who was chewing on a red carrot, got anxious and said, “No toys, I want to buy a room full of new books for Baby Rabbit!”
“I want to buy toys!”
“I want to buy new books!”
Mommy Rabbit and Daddy Rabbit argued again, neither willing to give in. Mommy Rabbit remembered how Daddy Rabbit had been so harsh these days and cried sadly, “Waa, waa, waa.”
Baby Rabbit saw Mommy Rabbit crying and was so worried that he almost started crying too. He shouted loudly, “Why don’t you ask me what kind of new home I want?”
Mommy Rabbit stopped crying, and together with Daddy Rabbit, turned eagerly to ask, “Dear baby, what kind of home do you want?”
Baby Rabbit cried and said, “I want a home where Daddy and Mommy don’t fight!”
