There was a little dog who thought he was incredibly strong and brave.

However, his friends—the little squirrel, the little wild rabbit, and the little monkey—didn’t admire him at all. This made the little dog very sad.

One day, while out for a walk, the little dog found a yellowish fur. “Whose fur could this be?” thought the little dog. “It’s so thick, so long, so soft, and so beautiful. Yes, this must belong to a tiger. After all, the tiger is the king of the forest! Only the king of the forest could have such thick, long, soft, and beautiful fur.”

The little dog told the little squirrel, “Look, I killed a big tiger! Aren’t I amazing?” The little squirrel said, “I don’t believe you. Do you have any proof?” The little dog replied, “If you don’t believe me, this tiger fur in my hand can be the proof. Look!” He proudly held up the soft, yellowish fur.

How could such a small dog kill a tiger? This puzzled the little squirrel, the little wild rabbit, and the little monkey.

So, the little squirrel, the little wild rabbit, and the little monkey decided to test the little dog. They found a tiger skin and stood on top of each other—first the little squirrel stood on the little wild rabbit’s head, and then the little wild rabbit stood on the little monkey’s head. After that, they put on the tiger skin.

When the little dog went out to play again, they stood by the roadside. As the little dog walked by, they jumped out to scare him. Seeing what appeared to be a real tiger, the little dog backed away in fear and hurriedly ran home.

Suddenly, he heard laughter coming from the “tiger.” Turning around, he saw that it was actually his good friends—the little squirrel, the little wild rabbit, and the little monkey. The little dog realized that his lie had been exposed, blushed, and lowered his head.

From then on, the little dog never dared to lie again.
