The Little Pig Who Became King
The little pig crossed over high mountains, walking and walking. He saw an old man sitting by the roadside, crying.
The little pig approached the man and asked, “Why are you crying?”
The old man replied, “I’m lost, and I’m very hungry, but I have nothing to eat.”
The little pig said, “I just happen to have a lunch pack. You are welcome to share it with me.”
After they finished eating, the old man asked, “Where are you going?”
“I want to become king,” the little pig answered.
“Oh,” said the old man, pondering, “Can I come with you?”
“Of course,” the little pig replied.
Soon, they came to a dense forest and encountered another old man who was crying.
The little pig approached him and asked, “Why are you crying?”
The old man said, “A giant has taken my dog, and I don’t know what to do.”
The little pig replied, “Please wait here. I will go save him.”
The little pig ran to the deepest, darkest part of the forest, where the giant liked to live. Sure enough, he spotted the giant’s house.
Peering through the window, the little pig saw the giant fast asleep, and in the corner, there was a cage containing the poor dog.
The little pig quietly opened the door. He tiptoed into the house, approached the cage, and whispered to the dog, “Don’t make a sound; I’m here to rescue you.”
Gently, the little pig opened the cage door. Then, he and the dog tiptoed outside. Once they were outside, they ran swiftly back to where the old men were waiting.
Upon returning, the little pig found it strange that there were only two wizards there.
“Welcome, little pig. We are the old men you met earlier,” one of the wizards said. “The old king has died, and he left no heirs to inherit the throne.”
“So we devised a plan to conduct a test to find a new king,” the other wizard said.
“The king must know how to rule the kingdom with generosity and kindness. Although I don’t know you, you generously shared your lunch with me,” one wizard said.
“The king must also have courage,” the other wizard continued. “You risked your life and bravely saved that dog.”
“So, we have unanimously decided to make you the king,” the wizards said in unison.
And just like that, the little pig became king.
