The Little Rooster Crows
In the morning, as the sun rises, the little rooster stands by the river, crowing “cock-a-doodle-doo!” He wakes up the little white goose and the little tabby cat; his crowing makes the flowers open their eyes and the grass stretch up.
The little white goose says, “Little rooster, you’re so great! You wake us up every day by getting up early. You’re really hardworking!”
The little rooster fluffs his feathers, his face turning rosy, feeling very happy inside.
The little tabby cat says, “Thank you, little rooster! With you announcing the time every day, I don’t sleep in anymore!”
The little rooster shakes his long comb, feeling a bit shy.
Then the little tabby cat asks, “Little rooster, do you know today’s weather forecast? I’m going out today and I don’t know what to wear.”
The little rooster shakes his head. Seeing the little tabby cat’s disappointed look makes him feel uneasy.
What to do? The little rooster decides to come up with a solution.
The next morning, the little rooster writes the weather forecast on a small sign and hangs it on his big, sturdy red comb. He crows “cock-a-doodle-doo!” to wake everyone up, and when they see the weather forecast, everyone praises the little rooster for being not only hardworking but also very smart!
