White mice and gray mice

The story of Little White Mouse and Little Grey Mouse is about two mice who live together in a burrow. They are not just good friends but also family. On good weather days, they go out together to search for food and play outside. When it snows, they stay together inside.

“It’s snowing! It’s snowing!” Little White Mouse shouted excitedly, looking very happy. But Little Grey Mouse didn’t seem to share the excitement. He looked up at the sky and said, “It looks like it’s going to snow for many days.” He couldn’t help but worry, wondering, “Where can we find food in this kind of weather?”

One day, just like usual, Little Grey Mouse went out to search for food. However, everywhere was covered in snow, and he couldn’t find anything. Feeling down, Little Grey Mouse returned home. Little White Mouse comforted him, saying, “Don’t be upset. It’s not your fault.” But Little Grey Mouse was still feeling very sad.

“Hey, look!” Like performing magic, Little White Mouse suddenly brought out a plate of peanuts. “Wow!” Little Grey Mouse exclaimed in surprise, “Did you conjure this with magic?” Little White Mouse laughed. She didn’t know any magic; she had simply saved some food during the season of abundance for herself and Little Grey Mouse.

Little White Mouse took Little Grey Mouse to see her storage room, which was filled with fragrant bread crumbs, golden wheat grains, beans, and even half a bar of chocolate! Little Grey Mouse’s mouth dropped open. He thought Little White Mouse was amazing! He also felt very lucky because not every mouse has such a smart and capable friend. Suddenly, Little Grey Mouse noticed a paper package. “What’s this?” he asked curiously. “This is the best thing I’ve prepared for winter,” Little White Mouse said with a mysterious smile.

Little Grey Mouse quickly opened the package, revealing a piece of red candle. “Oh, my dear Little White Mouse!” Little Grey Mouse exclaimed with joy. If you were a little mouse living underground, and if your home was damp and cold in the winter, you would understand why a piece of red candle was “the best thing” of all.

What followed were many cold and harsh days… But Little Grey Mouse and Little White Mouse always felt happy. They lit the red candle, ate the food Little White Mouse had stored, and waited for spring to arrive. Sometimes, they would even entertain visiting friends. Everyone would gather around the warm and beautiful flame of the red candle, eating and chatting about happy things.

Can you believe it? That piece of red candle burned for the entire winter and never grew any shorter!

Story Reflection:

Love is a treasure that can only be received after it has first been given. This requires children to turn everyday care and consideration into a simple habit. We must learn to share with our good friends and understand how to give. In doing so, we can better appreciate the preciousness of deep friendships.
