A Beautiful Tail
In the forest, there was a group of pheasants, each with vibrant, colorful feathers on their tails. The birds all said: the pheasants’ tails were the most beautiful.
One pheasant, however, fell ill with a strange disease, and the feathers on its tail began to fall off, eventually leaving none behind. It became a pheasant with a bald tail.
This pheasant was deeply distressed, so it began working tirelessly to develop a remedy to prevent feather loss.
No one knew how long it took, but one day the bald-tailed pheasant happily announced that the remedy had been successfully developed!
The other birds asked, “Can your remedy cure your own tail and make the feathers grow back?”
“My feathers have been gone for too long, and they won’t grow back,” the pheasant replied.
“Then what’s the point? All your effort was in vain!” they exclaimed.
“It wasn’t in vain!” said the bald-tailed pheasant. “I can use it to prevent other pheasants from getting sick, so they can keep their beautiful tails forever!”
Sure enough, the pheasants that had started losing their feathers took the remedy, recovered from the strange disease, and never lost their feathers again, keeping their beautiful tails.
But all the pheasants agreed that the most beautiful tail still belonged to the bald-tailed pheasant.
