This Kind of Thriftiness is Unacceptable
Moon Moon Bear and Fly Fly Bear were colleagues. Moon Moon Bear lived a comfortable life, and he always managed to save a bit of money each month. Fly Fly Bear, on the other hand, lived paycheck to paycheck.
“I earn the same amount as Moon Moon Bear, so why is his life so much better than mine?” Fly Fly Bear pondered this over and over but couldn’t figure it out. Finally, he decided to visit Moon Moon Bear’s home to get a clearer picture.
Fly Fly Bear arrived at Moon Moon Bear’s house, just as Moon Moon Bear was doing laundry. Fly Fly Bear noticed that one of the clothes in the basin had a hole in it, and said, “Moon Moon Bear, your shirt has a hole in it. Why don’t you just throw it away?”
Moon Moon Bear glanced at the hole and replied, “Throwing it away would be such a waste! It’s just a small hole; I can patch it up and still wear it!”
Fly Fly Bear thought to himself, “That makes sense. This way, you can definitely save some money.”
Moon Moon Bear then invited Fly Fly Bear into the living room for tea. Fly Fly Bear noticed an old calendar on the coffee table and asked curiously, “Moon Moon Bear, this is last year’s calendar. Why haven’t you thrown it away?”
“The back of the calendar is blank, so I can use it as scrap paper. We don’t make much money, so we should learn to be thrifty,” Moon Moon Bear explained.
“No wonder you live better than I do!” Fly Fly Bear said admiringly, “I should start learning from you.”
Fly Fly Bear bid farewell to Moon Moon Bear and returned home just in time for lunch. He picked up some leftover rice from the table and, after sniffing it, noticed it had a strange smell. Normally, he would have thrown it into the trash, but today he thought, “Throwing it away would be such a waste. I need to live more frugally like Moon Moon Bear.”
So, Fly Fly Bear reheated the leftover rice and ate it for lunch. However, not long after eating, he ended up being rushed to the hospital.
When Moon Moon Bear heard that Fly Fly Bear was hospitalized, he hurried over to visit. Fly Fly Bear, feeling wronged, said, “Moon Moon Bear, why did I get sick and end up in the hospital just because I tried to be thrifty?”
Moon Moon Bear was baffled. After learning that Fly Fly Bear got sick from eating leftover food, Moon Moon Bear sighed and said, “Fly Fly Bear, being thrifty is good, but you shouldn’t do it at the expense of your health!”
