Little Yellow Chicken Borrows an Umbrella
Little Yellow Chicken was home alone and felt bored, so he decided to go find his good friends to play. On the way, he saw Little Dog guarding his house, so he walked into Little Dog’s home. Little Dog was happy and said, “Come quickly! There are bugs in my yard.”
Little Yellow Chicken hurried over and started searching for bugs. Before long, it started to rain, so Little Yellow Chicken took shelter in Little Dog’s house. Seeing how anxious Little Chicken looked, Little Dog said, “Don’t worry, I’ll lend you my umbrella.”
So Little Yellow Chicken took Little Dog’s umbrella and went home.
The next day, before Little Yellow Chicken even got out of bed, he was woken up by Little Squirrel. “Little Yellow Chicken, do you want to play hide-and-seek with me?”
Little Yellow Chicken quickly got up and started playing hide-and-seek with Little Squirrel. Just as they were having fun, it began to rain again, so they had to take shelter inside the house. As the day was coming to an end and it was still raining, Little Squirrel started to worry and said, “I didn’t bring an umbrella today. How will I get home?”
Little Yellow Chicken then took the umbrella hanging on the wall and lent it to Little Squirrel. Little Squirrel took the umbrella and went home.
A few days later, Little Dog went to deliver some bugs to Little Yellow Chicken. On the way, he saw Little Squirrel and asked, “Why are you carrying an umbrella when it’s not raining today?”
“I’m returning the umbrella to Little Yellow Chicken,” said Little Squirrel. “A few days ago, I went to his house to play hide-and-seek, and it started to rain. He lent me his umbrella.”
Little Dog said, “Perfect, I’m going to Little Yellow Chicken’s house to deliver some bugs. Let’s go together.”
When they arrived at Little Yellow Chicken’s house, Little Yellow Chicken saw the umbrella in Little Squirrel’s hand and suddenly remembered that he had borrowed Little Dog’s umbrella but hadn’t returned it yet. Seeing that Little Dog had come to deliver bugs again, he said apologetically, “I’m really sorry. I forgot to return your umbrella.”
“No worries,” said Little Dog. “I haven’t needed it these past few days, so don’t feel bad. I came today to bring you some bugs. Hurry up and enjoy them.”
Little Yellow Chicken, touched, said, “Thank you for thinking of me, even though I’m such a forgetful friend.”
Afterward, Little Squirrel, Little Yellow Chicken, and Little Dog happily played together in the yard.
