Hummingbird Story

There’s a little hummingbird near my house who often perches on my windowsill. Every day, I can hear her chirping happily, singing cheerful songs. However, in the past few days, I haven’t seen her at all. About a week ago, a fierce storm blew beautiful petals all over the ground. I couldn’t help but worry about my little hummingbird. She must have flown away because she couldn’t find food. But to my surprise, this morning, she appeared on my windowsill again.

“Where have you been?” I asked eagerly.

“Oh, just wandering around nearby,” the little hummingbird replied.

“Did you find anything to eat?” I continued asking.

“Oh! There’s plenty of food. It’s just that all the small branches and grasses were swept away by the storm,” the hummingbird said, dejectedly.

“That’s really troubling. What are you going to do?” I asked, worried.

The little hummingbird shrugged her tiny, cute wings. “I do have a good solution, but I need your help. Can you help me?”

“Of course, if it’s something I can do,” I said without hesitation.

“Could you lend me some bubblegum?” the hummingbird asked.

Why would a hummingbird need bubblegum? I was puzzled, but I was happy to share it with her. After all, she’s my good friend. The little hummingbird carefully chewed the bubblegum I gave her, and then suddenly blew a bubble larger than her own body. After thanking me, she hurriedly flew away.

The next morning, the little hummingbird appeared on my windowsill again and asked for even more bubblegum than last time. Just like before, I was puzzled but happy to share it with her. After all, she’s my good friend! The little hummingbird chewed on the bubblegum for a while and then blew another big bubble. After thanking me, she hurriedly flew away again.

This time, she disappeared for several days, and I began to wonder what she was up to. The weather was clear today, and I was playing outside by myself when I suddenly heard someone calling my name. I looked around but didn’t see anyone. The voice called out again, and this time I realized it was coming from the oak tree in my backyard. It was the little hummingbird calling me, and she was sitting in a colorful nest.

“Look! This is the rainbow nest you helped me build,” the hummingbird said excitedly.

“What’s going on?” I asked curiously.

“Well, last week, I had to find a place to lay my eggs, but the storm had blown away all the small branches and grasses. Thanks to your help and the bubblegum you shared, I was able to build this colorful nest! Now, my eggs and I are living in it. Thank you so much!” the hummingbird answered.

I climbed up the big oak tree to take a look. Wow, there were indeed two tiny eggs! They were about the size of jellybeans, lying snugly in the bubblegum nest. I shouted with joy because I had shared my bubblegum with the hummingbird and helped her build a rainbow nest.

Sharing with others truly is a joyful thing!
