Giraffe Story

Giraffe Jiajia’s neck is very, very long. When it walks through the forest, its long neck often bumps into the tall branches.

Jiajia came to the stream, spread its front legs apart, bent down, and lowered its neck, drinking water mouthful by mouthful. A monkey in the tree saw this and said, “Gosh, drinking water like that must be exhausting!” Jiajia sighed softly and said, “Ah, my neck is really too long!”

As Giraffe Jiajia walked along the path in the forest, it felt very unhappy. Suddenly, it saw an old sparrow flying up and down anxiously, chirping loudly: “Chirp, chirp!” Jiajia looked closely and realized that a little sparrow was lying on the grass. The little sparrow’s wings hadn’t fully grown feathers yet, so it couldn’t fly. It had accidentally fallen out of its nest onto the grass.

Giraffe Jiajia said to the old sparrow, “Don’t worry, I’ll help you.” It bent down, bit a thin branch, and let the little sparrow grab onto the branch. Jiajia held the branch in its mouth, raised its long neck, and gently sent the little sparrow back into its nest. The little sparrow chirped happily, and the old sparrow flew over, moved, and said, “Thank you, thank you! With your kindness and wisdom, you saved my child!”

Giraffe Jiajia was very happy too. It cheerfully said, “My long neck is really useful!”
