Crow Story: New Nest
A strong wind blew in from afar.
It blew away the dry branches, the fallen leaves, and even the driest fruits. What was worse, it also blew away Mr. Crow Blackfeather’s nest.
Poor Mr. Crow was left homeless.
Magpie was the first to extend an invitation, inviting Mr. Crow to visit his home. Mr. Crow landed on an oak tree and couldn’t believe there was such a beautiful nest in the world. The short branches were stacked neatly, and the mud was plastered firmly. How smooth and how elegant! Mr. Crow almost wanted to use his wings to touch every inch of the nest’s surroundings. He said, “Living here is true happiness.”
After leaving Magpie’s house, Mrs. Thrush invited Mr. Crow to visit her home.
Oh, the windows and doors of Mrs. Thrush’s house were all facing south, with a golden ray of sunlight streaming in. It was both warm and bright. Mr. Crow couldn’t help but think of his own home, where the windows and doors all faced north. The sun never wanted to visit, but the north wind often came, eventually blowing his nest away.
No sooner had Mr. Crow said goodbye to Mrs. Thrush than Miss Canary invited him to her home. Miss Canary’s nest wasn’t very spacious, but it was extremely clean—spotless, in fact. Sitting there made him feel refreshed, with a wonderful sensation of clarity.
Mr. Crow hurriedly bid farewell to Miss Canary, all the while thinking about how to build his new nest.
You can probably guess—
The new nest Mr. Crow built was as beautiful and sturdy as Magpie’s, with windows and doors facing south like Mrs. Thrush’s, and just as neat and clean as Miss Canary’s.
Of course, Mr. Crow’s new nest became one of the favorite spots for the birds in the forest.
Whenever the nest was mentioned, Mr. Crow would always say: “It seems the wind blowing away my old nest wasn’t such a bad thing after all…”
