Moral story for kids on hospitality: The Puppy Hosts a Party
A warm and friendly puppy invited his friends over to his house.
On the first day, the puppy invited the lamb and the deer: “Come to my house! I’ve prepared lots of delicious food for you!”
The lamb and the deer happily came to the puppy’s house. The puppy brought out grilled meat skewers, fresh fish, and pine nuts, and warmly said: “Eat, eat! Don’t be shy!”
But the lamb and the deer don’t eat fish or meat, so they had no choice but to pick at the pine nuts. However, the pine nut shells were too hard, and after trying for a long time, they couldn’t even crack one open. They left with empty stomachs.
On the second day, the puppy invited the bear, the fox, and the monkey: “Come to my house! I’ve prepared lots of tasty food for you!”
The bear, the fox, and the monkey happily came to the puppy’s house.
The puppy brought out lots of grass and vegetables and warmly said: “Eat, eat! Don’t be shy!”
The bear and the fox picked up the grass and vegetables, but after looking and sniffing them, they couldn’t eat any of it. They only wanted to eat meat! The monkey flipped through the grass and vegetables but couldn’t find the fruit he wanted. Disappointed, he swallowed hard.
The bear, the fox, and the monkey left with empty stomachs.
On the third day, the puppy invited the squirrel and the panda: “Come to my house! I’ve prepared lots of delicious food!”
The squirrel and the panda happily came to the puppy’s house.
The puppy brought out bread, milk, and mushrooms, and warmly said: “Eat, eat! Don’t be shy!”
But the squirrel didn’t find any pine nuts that he loved, and the panda didn’t find any bamboo to eat. They, too, left with empty stomachs.
“We’re never playing with the puppy again! He’s just playing tricks on us!” All the animals said angrily.
The puppy realized that since he had invited his friends over, none of them were talking to him anymore, and he felt very sad.
Feeling wronged, the puppy told Grandpa Ox about his party and then asked sadly: “Grandpa Ox, why is it that even though I sincerely invited everyone, my friends are no longer speaking to me?”
After hearing the puppy’s story, Grandpa Ox laughed and said: “Kid, before you invite guests, you need to understand their habits! Think about it — the food you prepared wasn’t something your guests could eat. They came to your house and left hungry, so of course, they weren’t happy with you!”
“Oh, that’s why! Grandpa Ox, how can I get everyone to forgive me?”
Grandpa Ox thought for a moment and said: “Go and prepare properly, and I’ll invite all your friends over again! But this time, you can’t make the same mistake!”
The puppy happily said: “I understand!” He quickly ran home to get ready.
Under Grandpa Ox’s guidance, all the friends came to the puppy’s house again. The puppy brought grass, mushrooms, and vegetables for the lamb and the deer, grilled meat skewers and fresh fish for the bear and the fox, lots of pine nuts for the squirrel, bread and fruit for the monkey, and a bundle of fresh bamboo for the panda.
Everyone got their favorite food and was very happy. As they ate, they all thanked the puppy. The puppy cheerfully brought out grass and leaves and said to Grandpa Ox: “Thank you! Please eat with us!”
The puppy enjoyed a plate of meat stew with rice and happily ate with everyone.
