Touching Love Story Collection: Falling in Love with Your Snoring
Xiaoman had just gotten married, and she was constantly sleep-deprived. Her girlfriend teased her, saying, “Working overtime every night? Don’t overdo it!” As she finished, she gave Xiaoman a mischievous smile.
Xiaoman blushed and playfully punched her friend, who quickly dodged out of the way. Left with no other option, Xiaoman went home and complained to her husband, “It’s all your fault! Your loud snoring keeps me up all night.”
Her husband didn’t believe his snoring was causing Xiaoman to lose sleep, so that night, Xiaoman hit the record button. The next morning, she woke him up and played the recording. He was startled by his own snoring. The sound was sometimes like an ox gasping for breath, and at other times like thunder rolling through the sky. Just when it would quiet down, a sudden burst of noise would come, like an airplane taking off. Xiaoman’s husband had never realized his snoring could be so dramatic. He pulled Xiaoman into his arms, feeling guilty, and said, “From now on, I’ll wait until you fall asleep before I go to sleep.”
Saying it was easier than doing it, though. Her husband was the kind who would start snoring as soon as his head hit the pillow. Xiaoman couldn’t bear to see him struggling to stay awake, but her husband insisted on not sleeping first. When he couldn’t stay awake any longer, he would splash cold water on his face to stay alert. Xiaoman felt both touched and pained by this and often pretended to be asleep. Over time, she gradually got used to it and sometimes managed to fall asleep. Eventually, her skin regained its rosy glow.
As her husband grew thinner, Xiaoman said, “Go ahead and sleep. I’ve really gotten used to it now.” But he refused. Xiaoman was so worried that she started crying. She went to her girlfriend for advice, and her friend came up with a plan. That same day, Xiaoman brought home a medicinal pillow with the words “Cures Snoring” prominently printed on it.
Her husband started using the pillow, and Xiaoman reported on its effectiveness each day. He was skeptical at first. But after a few more days, Xiaoman was excited. “Hey, you’re not snoring anymore!” she exclaimed. Then, with a playful grin, she sighed, “I’ve gotten so used to your snoring that now, without it, I actually miss it a little.”
From then on, her husband slept soundly, snoring as loudly as ever. But by that time, Xiaoman had learned to fall asleep and wake up comfortably to the sound of his snoring.
