Romantic story of sacrifice: Photo that Concealed Love
Wang Bing died in a car accident. Although Liu Ying received a significant amount of compensation, she was still deeply heartbroken.
Liu Ying and Wang Bing had only been married for two years. Wang Bing often drove trucks, so they didn’t get to spend much time together. However, their love was strong. Most of the time, Liu Ying spent her days missing him, feeling both anxious and longing for his return.
Liu Ying constantly worried about Wang Bing. Whenever he didn’t return on the agreed date, she would call to check on him. She was always afraid that something might happen to him, and this time, it did. Wang Bing was in an accident, though it wasn’t his fault; it was the other driver’s. Nonetheless, Wang Bing lost his life.
Liu Ying never imagined that she would lose Wang Bing so quickly—after only two years. In fact, Liu Ying’s mother had tried to stop her from being with Wang Bing. Back then, her mother would always say, “Wang Bing is a driver. He’s on the road all the time, and accidents are inevitable. Even though he earns good money, how much happiness can you really get by marrying him?” But Liu Ying was determined and married Wang Bing anyway. Now, Wang Bing was gone without warning, leaving Liu Ying all alone in the world.
Every day, Liu Ying cried her heart out, and no matter how her mother tried to console her, nothing seemed to work. Her mother asked, “Do you regret marrying Wang Bing? It’s okay; you’re still young. There are plenty of good men out there!”
Liu Ying replied, “Who said I regret it? I’ve never regretted it! Did I say I wanted to marry anyone else?”
Her mother said, “What, are you planning to spend the rest of your life alone?”
Liu Ying replied, “Yes, I only love Wang Bing. He’s the only one in my heart for this lifetime!” Her mother sighed and said no more.
Liu Ying was only 25 years old. How could she live like this for the rest of her life? She didn’t have any children, so she could easily find another good man. In fact, there were already several good men around her who were interested in her. They had been helping and comforting her during this time, but Liu Ying hadn’t shown interest in any of them.
Liu Ying grew thinner with each passing day, and everyone was worried about her. One day, her mother’s face looked troubled. Liu Ying asked, “Mom, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Her mother replied, “No, it’s not that. Look at this photo. You’ve been so attached to Wang Bing, but I never expected him to be this kind of person!”
Her mother took out a photo and handed it to Liu Ying. When Liu Ying saw it, her face turned pale. In the photo, Wang Bing was with another woman, their faces close together, looking very happy.
Liu Ying started crying. She had always believed that Wang Bing loved her as deeply as she loved him. She never thought that Wang Bing had a woman on the side. Since he was often away and had money, it was easy for him to find someone else.
Now, Liu Ying regretted everything. She suddenly felt relieved that Wang Bing was dead. If he hadn’t died, who knows how long he would have deceived her?
Her mother said, “It’s a good thing I found this photo. Otherwise, you would never have known the truth. You would have spent your whole life grieving for Wang Bing and staying loyal to him, which would have been such a waste.”
Liu Ying didn’t respond. She wouldn’t spend her whole life grieving for Wang Bing anymore. She wouldn’t live that way.
Liu Ying began to interact openly with the men who liked her. She took her time to choose among them, determined not to end up with another man like Wang Bing.
Soon, Liu Ying found a good man and married him. After the wedding, they lived happily together. Over time, Liu Ying gradually forgot about Wang Bing.
Time flew by, and Qingming Festival arrived. That day, Liu Ying’s mother said, “You should go visit Wang Bing.”
Liu Ying replied, “Visit Wang Bing? No way!”
Her mother said, “If you don’t visit him, who will? Go, or you’ll be doing him a great injustice!”
Liu Ying responded, “He wronged me, and you still want me to visit him? No way!”
Her mother sighed and said, “Well, I guess I have to tell you the truth now.”
Her mother took out a letter and said, “Read this. Once you do, you’ll understand everything.”
Liu Ying took the letter and began to read:
Mom,
I know you’re against me being with Liu Ying. I know you’re worried that if something happens to me, it will bring her pain. But we truly love each other, and we are very happy together.
Your worries aren’t unfounded. I’ve been driving for years, and accidents are inevitable. I know how much she cares about me. If something happens to me, she will be heartbroken and will likely never remarry. That would ruin her life. So I had someone use my photo and edit it with a picture of another woman. If something does happen to me, and Liu Ying refuses to move on, show her this photo. After seeing it, she will definitely give up on the idea of loving me forever and will be able to find happiness again…
The letter was in Wang Bing’s handwriting—no doubt about it. It looked like it had been written a long time ago, so Liu Ying asked her mother. Her mother said, “He gave it to me the day after you two got married. He was so thoughtful.”
Suddenly, everything became clear to Liu Ying. The photo her mother had shown her earlier wasn’t proof that Wang Bing didn’t love her. On the contrary, it showed how deeply Wang Bing cared for her. From the beginning, Wang Bing had been thinking about her happiness. He knew that one day he might leave her, but he wanted her to live well even after he was gone. So, he did everything he could to ensure that. Even though he was no longer around, his love remained.
At that moment, tears streamed down Liu Ying’s face…
