Elephant and Mouse children’s story
An elephant and a little mouse became friends.
The two good friends loved telling and listening to stories. The little mouse would crawl into the elephant’s ear to tell him a story, and the elephant would use his long trunk as a megaphone, telling his story only to the little mouse.
The two friends also loved playing games, but they only played one game—hide and seek.
Each time, the elephant was always easily found by the little mouse, but the little mouse was never found by the elephant.
The elephant said, “This is a bit unfair. My body is so big that it’s hard for me to hide well. Whether I hide behind a tree, in the bushes, or in a pond, you can always find me right away. But your body is so small that when you hide in a hole in the ground, I can’t find you at all.”
“Yes, your body is so big that I can see you from a mile away,” the little mouse agreed that it wasn’t fair.
“I’ve got an idea. Next time, I’ll stand among a herd of elephants for you to find me. You definitely won’t be able to find me,” said the elephant.
“Then next time, I’ll hide in the grass right in front of you, and you’ll definitely find me,” said the little mouse.
However, the next time, the elephant was still easily found by the little mouse among the herd of elephants.
And as for the elephant, even though the little mouse was hiding right in front of him, he still couldn’t find him. Even though all he had to do was stomp his feet or sweep the grass with his long trunk, he could have found the little mouse.
“In the elephant herd, you’re the only one who keeps sneaking glances at me, so I can easily spot you,” said the little mouse.
“You hid in the grass, but I was afraid of accidentally hurting you, so I couldn’t find you!” said the elephant.
Indeed, only good friends would always be so considerate of each other!
