The Fawn and the Muddy Pond
Little fawn Duoduo had wandered away from her mother and was hopping around playfully in the forest.
Suddenly, she stepped into a muddy pond and couldn’t move.
“Mom! Mom, come here!” Duoduo called out loudly.
But she had gone too far from her mother, and her mother couldn’t hear her cries.
Duoduo shouted until her voice was hoarse, but her mother still didn’t come. She became so anxious that she started to cry, “Waa waa.”
A frog jumped in front of Duoduo and said to her, “This muddy pond isn’t deep. Why don’t you just pull your leg out?”
But Duoduo kept crying and shouting, “Waa waa, Mom, come quickly and pull me out!”
The frog’s eyes darted around, and suddenly it shouted loudly, “Run, the lion is coming!” Then it quickly leaped into a mud hole.
Duoduo was shocked and scared. She struggled hard and pulled her leg out of the muddy pond in one go, then started running fast.
After running for a while, she looked back: Oh, where was the lion? There wasn’t any trace of it. At this moment, she heard the frog’s song: “Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit! Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit! Little fawn Duoduo is the best, jumped out of the muddy pond, such a great feat…”
“So the frog was just scaring me!” Duoduo lowered her head and hopped off to find her mother.
