Educational tale for kids about growth: The Little Tree’s Wish

Once upon a time, there was a little tree, a crooked little tree. The other trees would all make fun of how crooked the little tree was, so the little tree made up its mind.

The little tree decided that it wanted to grow as straight as the other trees. But how could it make itself grow straight?

While it was pondering this question, it suddenly saw a little squirrel standing on its branch. It asked the squirrel, “Dear Squirrel, do you know how I can straighten my trunk?”

The squirrel thought for a moment and said, “Why don’t you just try to stand your trunk up straight?”

The little tree listened and tried to straighten its trunk.

But a month passed, two months passed, three months passed, and the little tree’s trunk still hadn’t straightened.

The little tree saw a little bird singing on its branch and asked the bird, “Dear Bird, do you know how I can straighten my trunk?”

The bird pondered for a while and said, “There must be bugs in your trunk. Let me help you catch them!”

So the bird began to peck at the trunk to catch the bugs.

But a month passed, two months passed, three months passed, and the little tree’s trunk still hadn’t straightened.

One day, the little tree saw many children playing on the meadow. The little tree quietly asked, “Dear children, do you know how I can straighten my trunk?”

The children didn’t say anything but instead brought four wooden sticks and propped the little tree up.

After three months, the little tree had really grown straight and tall. The little tree was overjoyed because no other trees would ever mock it for being crooked again!
