Adorable kitten story for children: Carol and Her Kitten
Carol had always wanted a kitten. She wanted to cuddle it and play with it, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t get one.
Her dad said, “Don’t worry, let’s put an ad in the newspaper.”
The ad was published and it read: We are in desperate need of a kitten. We have a very cozy home for it and we want to take good care of it. Do you have an extra kitten?
Carol set out a dish of milk and another of snacks. She also placed an old soft cushion in a cloth basket and waited at home for the kitten to arrive. Ding-dong, the doorbell rang. A boy walked in with a basket and said, “Our cat had three kittens, so I’m giving you one. Its name is Bolo.” This kitten had patches of white and black.
Carol took the kitten and saw the boy off. The little kitten meowed, and Carol said, “Don’t be sad. I’ll take care of you just like your mother would.” Carol let the kitten drink milk, eat snacks, and after that, she even gave it a yarn ball to play with.
Ding-dong, the doorbell rang again. A girl walked in carrying a kitten. She said, “This is our extra kitten.” She put the kitten down and quickly left with her mother.
The second kitten was deep yellow with a bow tied around its neck and a little bell hanging from it. Carol said, “You’re so adorable. You can be Bolo’s companion.”
Just as Carol finished speaking, the doorbell rang again. This time, an uncle walked in, looking quite funny with a kitten in each of his pockets and one hidden in his hat. As soon as he squatted down, the kittens jumped out one after another and ran around the house.
Carol laughed. Look at them, the kittens were really amusing.
After that, the doorbell kept ringing nonstop, and more kittens arrived, all kinds of them.
When Carol’s mom returned from the store, she could hardly believe her eyes. “Kittens are fun,” she said, “but you can only keep one.”
That night, the house was chaotic. Kittens were jumping on the piano, creating a clanging symphony. They crawled into drawers and cabinets. Whenever someone entered the house, a kitten would suddenly leap out from behind the door, giving them a fright.
Carol’s dad found a kitten in each of his slippers by the bed. “There are too many! Too many kittens! This won’t do. We need to find a solution.”
The next day, her dad put another ad in the newspaper: Free to a good home: Fat, pretty kittens. Come and pick one out quickly.
Kids came running from all directions. Carol was heartbroken as she spent the entire day saying goodbye to the kittens. As evening approached, her grandmother called, asking Carol to come and help. Grandma’s house was not far away. When Carol left, there were still three kittens at home. But when she returned, there wasn’t a single kitten left.
Her mom said, “I’m so confused. How did I end up giving away all the kittens? I meant to keep one.”
Carol began to cry. The house was now silent, so quiet that she could even hear the ticking of the clock.
Suddenly, she heard a meowing sound. A black and white kitten jumped out of the kitchen. Carol cheered, “Ah, it’s Bolo!”
Bolo affectionately rubbed against Carol’s hand, as if saying, “I hid because I didn’t want to be given away. I want to stay with you.”
Carol fully understood what the little kitten meant. She finally had a kitten of her very own.
