Potato Story: The Adventure of the Little Potato
A long, long time ago, there was a little potato living in a market. Every day, it longed to leave and see the vast world.
One day, a mischievous little boy accidentally bumped into the little potato. The potato rolled onto the ground, excitedly shouting, “Yay!” It kept rolling until it reached the riverbank, where it suddenly saw a small fish being caught by a fisherman. The little potato quickly dashed over with lightning speed, knocking the fisherman down and gently nudging the little fish back into the water. The fish was very grateful and spat out a shiny, glowing shell, saying, “Thank you for saving me. This shell will bring you good luck if you ever find yourself in danger. Farewell.” With that, the fish swam away.
The little potato carefully carried the shell on its back and continued rolling forward. Just as it was having a great time, suddenly, an eagle swooped down and grabbed it. The little potato was terrified and struggled desperately to escape, but it was all in vain—the eagle held on tightly. The potato turned red with anxiety.
The eagle carried the little potato to a dark, damp cave filled with bones. The potato shuddered in fear. Just when it was about to give up hope, it remembered the shell, and a glimmer of hope sparked in its heart. However, when it took the shell off, it found it covered in a sticky substance. Upon closer inspection, it realized it was nectar. At that moment, ants came over to feast on the nectar. The little potato pleaded with them, “Can you help me? I can’t find the way out.”
The ant queen nodded and said, “Yes, follow us.”
Overcome with emotion, the little potato followed them. Just as they were about to exit the cave, the little potato heard a cry. Following the sound, it saw a large, black-spotted yellow beast—a leopard. The little potato was puzzled as to why the leopard was crying for help. An ant crawled over and said, “It hasn’t eaten in a long time.”
Feeling sympathetic, the little potato took out the shell. The shell automatically opened, emitting countless rays of light, and out came large chunks of fresh meat. The leopard crawled over and devoured the meat, filling its belly in no time. Then, something magical happened—the leopard grew a pair of fully-feathered wings and said, “Thank you. I will help you fulfill one dream.”
The little potato said, “I want to fly up to the blue sky, grab clouds to eat as cotton candy, look down on rivers, mountains, and valleys, and finally land by the sea to grow into a potato plant.”
The magical leopard took the potato into the sky and placed it on the seaside land. Later, it really grew into a potato plant.
