Moon Story For Kid: the Moon Sister’s Shadow
Every time day turns to night, it is the Moon Sister’s happiest moment. Finally climbing into the vast sky, she can see all the beauty in the world and chat with the countless stars all night long. Every night, the Moon quietly shines her light over the earth, her glow as soft as a gentle stream, serene and peaceful; like a fairy’s silk, radiant and cool.
However, amidst this endless tranquility, the Moon harbors a small sorrow—she cannot find her own shadow.
Whenever night falls, the Moon Sister gazes down at the earth, watching as the shadows of mountains, lakes, trees, and little animals stretch out long in the light, sometimes growing short and flat, sometimes moving ahead, and other times falling behind, like a silent shadow dance. The Moon Sister is so envious, especially when she sees the little animals on the ground playing a game of stepping on each other’s shadows. She wishes she could play with the stars in the sky, but no matter how hard she looks, she can never find her own shadow.
She thinks that her shadow isn’t in the sky; it must have fallen to the ground. One day, she decides to go down to the earth and search for her shadow.
“My shadow must be big and round, the most beautiful shadow in the entire universe. I will definitely find my shadow,” the Moon Sister assures herself.
She gracefully descends, passing through layers of clouds, arriving in a peaceful little town. Under the close light of the moon, every corner of the town appears particularly beautiful, every flower and every leaf bathed in a silvery glow.
The Moon Sister glides through a sea of tulips and gently asks the butterflies dancing among the flowers, “Excuse me, have you seen my shadow?”
The butterflies shake their heads and say, “Moon Sister, we haven’t seen your shadow. But we see your light, which brings us hope and makes us unafraid of the approaching darkness.”
She passes through the flower sea and comes to a pond, where in the night a mother frog is leading her little froglets in diving practice. The Moon Sister asks the mother frog, “Excuse me, have you seen my shadow?” The mother frog pops out of the water and says, “Moon Sister, I haven’t seen your shadow, but I’ve seen your light, which illuminates the entire pond and makes our nights less lonely.”
Finally, the Moon Sister comes to an old oak tree and sighs softly, “Ah! It seems I cannot find my shadow.”
The oak tree sways its branches and softly says, “Little Moon, little Moon, your shadow is not on the ground, nor in the water.”
“Then where is my shadow?” the Moon Sister asks eagerly.
“Your shadow has always been in the hearts of every living being. It is you who gives them warmth and love.”
The Moon Sister suddenly understands. Her shadow has always been there, just in a special way. Her light warms the earth and warms every heart.
From then on, the Moon Sister no longer worries about not finding her shadow. Whenever night falls, she shines even more lovingly over the earth, knowing that her love spreads to every corner and that her shadow is hidden in the warmth within everyone’s heart.
Love does not always appear in visible forms; more often, it is invisible, but it warms every life and brightens every night.
