Romantic short love stories: The Last Bottle of Iced Tea
Every day after lunch, she would buy a bottle of iced tea from the cafeteria’s beverage counter. But that day, the woman behind the counter told her that the iced tea was sold out. As she turned to leave, a boy handed her a bottle of iced tea, placed it in her hand, and walked away without saying a word. She was stunned, filled with questions, but quickly realized she should at least catch up to him and pay him back. That’s how they met, and soon, she became his girlfriend.
Of course, when she caught up to him and handed him the money, she didn’t notice the anxious eyes watching from a nearby table, nor did she realize that it was Valentine’s Day. What seemed like a random encounter was actually a carefully planned meeting…
The full story is that he had liked her for a long time. Like many cliché characters, he was naturally shy, and she was naturally charming. For a long time, he only admired her from a distance, fantasizing about greeting her whenever they passed each other, but he never had the courage to take that first step towards getting to know her.
Whenever he hung out with his buddies, he would inevitably talk about her, and his friends would always encourage him, sometimes teasingly. He would then promise with full confidence that he would go home, write out what he wanted to say, and confess to her the next day.
But every time they met again, all he had to show for his efforts was a crumpled piece of blank paper.
Sitting at his desk each night, the moment he thought about confessing, he would immediately become anxious, his mind going almost completely blank.
Finally, his friends had enough of watching his never-ending story of a secret crush. So that day at lunch, they bought up all the iced tea from the beverage counter before she arrived, painfully hauling all the bottles back to their dorm, except for one that they handed to him. With a mix of persuasion and pressure, he finally agreed to go along with their plan.
Unfortunately, once on the stage, his nerves got the better of him, and he ran away early. Luckily, just as his friends were about to jump up from the nearby table in frustration, the girl chased after him… Later on, they would often laugh together, saying that even though the script wasn’t bad, they hadn’t expected the actor to get cold feet, almost wasting all that money they spent on a case of iced tea.
