Children Stories about Lion: The Cowardly Lion
There was a tall and strong lion, but he was very timid. Even a leaf falling on his head would scare him, making his heart race for a long time.
One day, he encountered a tiger and was so frightened that he ran away as fast as he could. He ran and ran, and his body actually started to shrink, becoming as small as a leopard.
Then, he met a leopard and was again scared out of his wits, turning to run away. He ran and ran, and he shrank even further, becoming as small as a cat.
When the lion encountered a cat, he was frightened and fled once more. He ran and ran, until he became as small as a mouse.
Now as small as a mouse, the lion met a little white mouse. They looked at each other, both terrified. Confused and panicked, they both ran off in the same direction.
They ran for a long time before finally stopping. “Ha ha ha!” They both laughed at their own cowardice.
The lion and the little white mouse became good friends. Whenever they heard a noise, they would run away together. Once they reached a safe place, they would hug each other and say, “It’s okay, don’t be afraid.”
One day, the lion was taking a nap when he suddenly heard the little white mouse shouting, “Help! Help!” It turned out that a wild cat was chasing the little white mouse.
The lion jumped up and charged at the wild cat, shouting, “Don’t bully the little white mouse!” As he ran, the lion began to grow, and soon he was as big as the wild cat.
The wild cat fled. Just then, a deer in the distance shouted, “Ah, a tiger! Help, help!” The little white mouse was terrified and said, “Let’s run away quickly…”
But suddenly, the lion charged at the tiger, saying, “Don’t bully the deer!” As he ran, the lion grew larger and larger, and in no time, he was bigger than the tiger, appearing majestic and strong.
The deer said, “Thank you for saving my life! You are so brave!” The lion thought, “Brave? Am I brave? Why do I feel so timid?”
The little white mouse said to the lion, “When I’m with you, I’m not afraid at all.” The lion said to the little white mouse, “When I’m with you, I’m not afraid either.”
Suddenly, a leaf fell, and both the lion and the little white mouse were scared and ran away together. They ran and ran, and the lion shrank again. It was strange, but that’s just how this lion was—sometimes growing large, sometimes shrinking small.
---------------
“Bravery” makes the lion grow exceptionally large, while “timidity” shrinks the lion to the size of a little mouse. You see, inner strength is very important; as long as we have inner strength, we will become truly powerful.
