Frog Story for Kid: Little Frog’s Concert
Summer had arrived, and the little frog decided to hold a solo concert. The little frog believed it was the best singer, so naturally, it wanted the best stage.
The little frog chose the biggest and roundest lotus leaf in the pond as its stage, but no matter how much it looked at it, something still seemed to be missing.
The little frog went to find the fireflies: “If you want to see the best concert in the world, you should come and be my lighting crew.” The fireflies agreed: “We’ll bring our lanterns.”
The little frog went to find the praying mantis: “If you want to see the best concert in the world, you should come and be my accompanist.” The praying mantis agreed: “I’ll bring my violin.”
The little frog then went to find the butterfly: “If you want to see the best concert in the world, you should come and be my set designer.” The butterfly agreed: “I’ll bring you the most beautiful patterns.”
That evening, the concert finally began!
How beautiful the green lotus leaf stage was! Many butterflies perched on the edge of the lotus leaf, flapping their wings, as if they were framing the stage with a colorful border; the fireflies held hands, forming a semicircle above the stage, their lights twinkling brightly; the praying mantis, dressed in a tailcoat, stood on a small lotus leaf nearby, playing a melodious tune.
All the audience held their breath, waiting for the little frog to sing. Even the small fish in the pond couldn’t resist poking their heads out of the water.
But the little frog stood dazed in the middle of the stage, unable to sing a single note. It turned out that in the past few days, it had been so busy setting up the stage and sending out invitations that it hadn’t practiced a single song, and now, it couldn’t sing anything.
After waiting for a long time, the audience finally couldn’t help but call out: “Sing! Please, sing!”
The little frog’s face, originally green, now turned redder than the reddest lotus flower. It lowered its head and stammered, “I didn’t practice… I can’t sing.”
The butterflies, fireflies, and praying mantis all left in disappointment.
“You said you were the best singer, but you should be called the best braggart!”
The audience grumbled in dissatisfaction as they all walked away.
The little frog didn’t leave; it stood there for a long, long time, with tears falling drop by drop onto the lotus leaf stage.
The next day, the little frog began to practice singing.
It sang in the morning breeze…
It sang under the sunlight…
It sang under the starry sky…
Singing and singing, it learned many, many songs.
Singing and singing, its voice became more and more beautiful.
Another full moon night came, and the little frog held another concert. This time, it didn’t invite the fireflies, the butterflies, or the praying mantis. The lotus leaf stage was far less beautiful than last time, but its singing was so wonderful that it attracted many little animals. Everyone listened, completely enchanted. The concert was a huge success!
The little frog became a star in the pond, but it never again forgot to practice singing every day.
