Kid perseverance story: Climbing the Mountain
One morning, Bunny Hoohoo woke up to see a few clouds drifting outside the window, and the sharp, blue-tinged Peak Mountain seemed to beckon her. So, she said to Bunny Mama, “Today, let’s go climb the mountain. I want to reach the top and see the view!”
They arrived at the foot of the mountain and met Deer Miaomiao. Deer Miaomiao said, “Bunny Hoohoo, let’s have a race. Whoever reaches the top first wins.” With that, she dashed off and disappeared from sight.
“She’s going to win, and I’m going to lose. I don’t want to climb anymore!” Bunny Hoohoo said unhappily.
Bunny Mama encouraged her, “Climbing is fun and not just about winning. Besides, the race has just begun. If you don’t give up, you might still win; if you give up, you’ll surely lose. How about this, if you don’t give up, even if you lose, I’ll reward you with a carrot.”
Bunny Hoohoo loved carrots the most, so she started running up the mountain.
Following Bunny Mama, Bunny Hoohoo climbed until she was out of breath.
“Climbing is exhausting, I don’t want to climb anymore!” Bunny Hoohoo said.
“Almost there, we’ll reach the halfway point soon.” Bunny Mama cheered Bunny Hoohoo on.
Bunny Hoohoo reached the halfway point and shouted, “I’m so tired, I don’t want to climb anymore!”
A little squirrel who had just come down from the mountain top cheered for Bunny Hoohoo, “Almost there, you’ll reach the top soon. If you don’t give up, you’ll see the houses look as small as building blocks.”
Bunny Hoohoo loved seeing big things turn small, so she gathered her energy and kept climbing step by step.
At this point, a light rain began to fall from the sky. The raindrops gently landed on Bunny Hoohoo’s ears, forehead, face, and shoulders…
Bunny Hoohoo shouted, “It’s raining, I don’t want to climb anymore!”
A tiny stream flowed past Bunny Hoohoo’s feet.
“Oh no, oh no, the flood is going to sweep me away…”
Bunny Mama held Bunny Hoohoo’s little hand and said, “What flood? It’s just a small stream. This light rain will pass soon. Let’s sing our way to the top, and you’ll see how wonderful it is to sing at the top.”
Bunny Hoohoo loved singing the most. She held Bunny Mama’s hand, singing as they climbed up the mountain.
Finally, Bunny Hoohoo and Bunny Mama reached the top, and the sky cleared up. Deer Miaomiao was waiting under a tree for them.
The view from the top was beautiful! Far away, mountains connected with mountains, playing hide-and-seek in the rain and mist. In the nearby valley, a pool of green water sparkled like a gem. Turning around, the buildings in the city looked as small as the building blocks on Bunny Hoohoo’s table.
“Bunny Hoohoo, you’re amazing! You climbed to the top so quickly.” Bunny Mama handed a carrot to Bunny Hoohoo and said, “How did you do it?”
“Well, I didn’t give up even if I lost, didn’t give up when I was tired, and didn’t give up when I was scared… Because I didn’t give up no matter what, I reached the top.” With that, Bunny Hoohoo and Deer Miaomiao started singing at the top of the mountain. Their singing drifted far, far away…
