Silly Little Bear and the Potato
One day, Uncle Niu asked Silly Little Bear a strange question:
“How can one potato turn into a big pile?”
Silly Little Bear said, “This question is too easy. Look, I’ll show you.”
He cut one potato into many small pieces and then piled them up together.
“Look, one potato has turned into a big pile,” said Silly Little Bear.
Uncle Niu laughed, “Haha, that’s not a big pile, that’s a small pile.”
“Well, there’s a way to fix that,” Silly Little Bear brought a lot of potatoes and piled them up together, “Look, this time it’s a big pile, right?”
Uncle Niu laughed again, “Haha, no, I can only give you one potato, but you have to turn it into a big pile of potatoes.”
Silly Little Bear was puzzled, “How can I do that?”
Uncle Niu said, “I can do this trick, follow me.”
Uncle Niu took the small pile of potato pieces that Silly Little Bear had cut and buried them in a piece of land, piece by piece.
“To do the magic trick, you always have to cover it with something. For me, it’s covering with soil, hehe,” said Uncle Niu.
After some days, the place where the potato pieces were buried sprouted small shoots.
A few more days passed, and these small shoots grew into a large patch of lush green plants.
After a few more days, Uncle Niu said, “Now we can dig up the soil and see if the magic trick worked.”
Silly Little Bear and Uncle Niu started digging in the soil. Underneath, it was full of potatoes.
These potatoes were piled up together.
Silly Little Bear said, “Wow, it really is a big pile!”
