Story Mole and Bear: Hiding in the Tree’s Rain
Spring had passed.
Little Mole was eagerly awaiting the first summer rain. He waited every day.
One sultry afternoon, Little Mole was fast asleep in his burrow, sleeping very soundly.
A low rumble of thunder didn’t wake him; a gusty wind didn’t wake him either. Shortly after, the long-awaited summer rain arrived with a “pitter-patter.”
When Little Mole finally woke up, he heard what sounded like rain outside, and he dashed out like the wind.
But he was too late. The rain had stopped, the wind had stopped, and Mr. Sun peeked out from behind a cloud, smiling at Little Mole.
Little Mole couldn’t smile; he was about to cry, feeling very sad.
At that moment, a little black bear came over. After finding out why Little Mole was upset, he laughed.
He led Little Mole to a sycamore tree and said, “Get ready, Mr. Mole, here comes the first summer rain of the year!” With that, he shook the sycamore tree vigorously. The droplets of water resting on the leaves fell with a “pitter-patter,” just like dense raindrops.
Little Mole looked up, spread his arms, and shouted, “Oh, the first summer rain has come! How cool, how comfortable, how delightful!”
The raindrops soaked Little Mole thoroughly, and the little black bear was also drenched.
Little Mole said to the little black bear, “Thank you, Mr. Black Bear. You gave me a rain, a summer rain hiding in the tree!”
