Tragic story: Love and heartbreak
A boy and a girl were a couple. The girl loved to feel the rain, and the boy would always hold an umbrella for her when it rained. Most of the umbrella would cover the girl, while the boy would get drenched. He never complained, just silently watched the girl’s delighted face. He felt happy, and so did the girl.
One day, the boy and girl went on an outing. The boy held the girl’s hand as they passed a construction site. The girl jumped around excitedly, chatting away. The boy rarely spoke, just silently watched her happiness and felt happy himself. Suddenly, a piece of rubble fell from above, heading straight for the girl’s head. There was no time to react.
The boy grabbed the girl, who screamed, intending to use his body to shield her. Just before it hit, the boy twisted around so that his body faced down. As a result, only the girl’s hand was hit, and she suffered a fracture.
The girl, just realizing what had happened, cried out in pain, tears streaming down her face. She thought of the saying, “Husband and wife are like birds in the same forest; when disaster strikes, they fly their separate ways.” She believed it to be true. Enduring the pain, she climbed off the boy without a glance back and slowly ran away.
The boy called out her name with a trembling voice, his lips already pale. He took out his phone and dialed the girl’s number. She didn’t answer. He called again, but still no answer. After several attempts, he gave up. His fingers were pressing something on the phone, but by then, blood had started to spread around him. His hand fell, and the phone lay in the pool of blood, too weak to press the send button.
The next day, the girl learned that the boy was in critical condition at the hospital. She hurried to the hospital, forgetting her anger. When she arrived, the doctor had already declared that the boy had died due to excessive blood loss in his lungs.
It turned out that when the boy had tried to shield the girl from the rubble, he noticed a steel bar sticking up from the ground. He had twisted around with all his strength to ensure only the girl’s hand was hit by the rubble, while the steel bar pierced his lung.
The boy’s mother handed the boy’s phone to the girl. She saw the unsent message: “My dear, I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you and let you get hurt…” Reading this, the girl couldn’t hold back her tears anymore and they streamed down her face as she rushed towards where the boy had gone to heaven.
