Kid bedtime story

At one end of Green Grass Road lived Granny Badger.

At the other end of Green Grass Road lived Grandpa Bear.

Sometimes, Granny Badger would walk across Green Grass Road to visit Grandpa Bear, bringing along fragrant rice balls she made herself.

Sometimes, Grandpa Bear would walk across Green Grass Road to visit Granny Badger, carrying corn he had harvested.

One day, Granny Badger made some delicious carrot rice balls and started walking along Green Grass Road to visit Grandpa Bear. As she walked, Granny Badger’s back began to ache and her legs hurt. She looked around and said, “Oh dear, there isn’t even a place to sit down!”

Granny Badger had no choice but to keep trudging along.

Oh, there was a round stone ahead, and it even had beautiful patterns on it!

“How nice, I can sit down and rest for a while!” Granny Badger sat comfortably on the round stone and said to herself, “This is quite a nice little stool!”

After resting for a while, Granny Badger continued on her way. After a bit of walking, she got tired again and saw another round stone ahead, exactly like the one she had seen before.

“Huh, why does this stone look just like the one I saw earlier? Can stones walk?” Granny Badger thought it was very strange.

Suddenly, the round stone laughed, “Hee hee!”

Granny Badger was startled, “Ah? Can stones talk?”

“Granny Badger, it’s me.”

Granny Badger looked closely, and from under the round stone, a small head with two little black bean-like eyes peeked out, smiling at her. It was Little Turtle!

The considerate Little Turtle said, “Granny Badger, you walk slowly, and I will be your little stool.”

The next day, Grandpa Bear carried sweet corn on his back to visit Granny Badger. Along the way, he noticed that Green Grass Road was filled with many little stools, some square stone stools, some round tree root stools…

Where did these stools come from? Oh, Little Turtle had spent the whole night quietly moving them there!
