magic story: Mika, the Yellow Elf
In the forest lived a yellow elf named Mika, who was entirely yellow.
Mika loved yellow the most. She said, “Seeing yellow makes my eyes comfortable, my mood happy; seeing yellow makes my whole body feel light and fills me with hope and vitality.”
In the morning, Mika opened the window, and a warm yellow glow shone in, making the whole house seem to melt into this warmth. The sunlight danced and leaped on Mika’s window like the shimmering light on a lake’s surface, and Mika could smell that unique warm scent belonging to the sunlight.
Mika went to the balcony and looked around. Truly, Mika was sitting in a yellow world. Fields of yellow rapeseed flowers spread out, emitting a faint fragrance mixed with the fresh scent of earth, gently drifting to Mika. Little rabbits, a black kitten, a little dog, and waddling ducklings ran into the rapeseed field, their laughter tickling Mika’s heart. Mika loved such fresh, warm, and delightful mornings.
One day, Mika came to a very big city, with tall buildings and wide roads, everything was something Mika had never seen before. She was dazzled by the sights, “The big city is wonderful, but there’s too little yellow!”
Mika took out her magic wand and waved it lightly.
“Ula Ula turns yellow yellow yellow!” — The green leaves on the trees turned into yellow leaves.
“Ula Ula turns yellow yellow yellow!” — The grass on the roadside turned into golden chrysanthemums.
“Ula Ula turns yellow yellow yellow!” — All the walls were painted yellow.
The people in the city exclaimed, “So beautiful, it’s really beautiful!” People walked on streets covered with yellow ginkgo leaves, listening to the crunching sound of the leaves, lightly smelling the chrysanthemum fragrance in the breeze, and happily entered all sorts of yellow castles, celebrating the city turning into a beautiful fairy tale world.
Princess Mika was very proud and waved her magic wand even more enthusiastically.
“Ula Ula turns yellow yellow yellow!” — The clothes people wore turned yellow.
“Ula Ula turns yellow yellow yellow!” — The images on the television turned yellow.
“Ula Ula turns yellow yellow yellow!” — The paintbrushes in the painters’ hands turned yellow.
“Ula Ula turns yellow yellow yellow!” — The red and green traffic lights on the road turned yellow.
…
Young ladies cried sadly, “I want a pretty dress, I want a colorful dress!” Children shouted angrily, “I want cartoons! I want cartoons!” Painters threw away all their paintbrushes in frustration, “Without colors, what can you do?” At intersections, there was a traffic jam, and the drivers were dumbfounded, “My goodness, without red and green lights, how do we drive?” Yellow covered more and more of the city, and more and more people screamed, “Oh no! Yellow! Yellow!”
Mika didn’t understand. Everywhere being yellow was so beautiful! Why were people so afraid?
