A love fable
Once upon a time, there were two little pigs who lived a carefree life together. They loved each other deeply. Every day when the owner brought food, the boar always let the sow eat first. Only after she was full would he eat the leftovers.
Every night, the boar would keep watch for the sow, fearing that the owner might take her away to be slaughtered while they were asleep. As time went by, the sow grew plumper, while the boar became thinner.
One day, the boar overheard the owner discussing with the butcher about slaughtering the plump sow for sale. The boar was heartbroken. From that day on, the boar’s behavior changed drastically. Whenever the owner brought food, the boar would rush to eat everything up.
After eating, he would lie down and sleep, telling the sow that it was now her turn to keep watch. He warned her that if he caught her not keeping watch, he would ignore her. As days passed, the sow felt increasingly neglected by the boar. She was disappointed, while the boar continued to live a carefree life.
Soon, a month passed. The owner brought the butcher to the pigsty again. He found that the once plump sow had lost much weight, while the boar had become sleek and shiny. At this moment, the boar ran around frantically, trying to catch the owner’s attention, showing that he was a healthy pig. Finally, the butcher dragged the boar away.
At the moment of being dragged out of the pigsty, the boar smiled at the sow and said, “Don’t eat so much in the future.” The sow was heartbroken and tried to rush out, but the gate was closed by the owner. Through the fence, the sow watched the boar with tears in his eyes.
That night, the sow watched the owner’s family happily eating pork. She lay down in the spot where the boar used to sleep every day. Suddenly, she noticed some words on the wall: “If love cannot be expressed with words, I am willing to prove it with my life.” Seeing these words, the sow was devastated.
Humans, upon hearing this tragic love story, were deeply moved. Girls, to commemorate this love story and remember the boar’s final advice, often say, “Don’t eat so much in the future.”
