friendship story for kids

South of Animal Village, there is a pond. In previous years, when there was plenty of rain, the pond would be full of water, making it a great place for the animals to play. But this year, due to less rainfall, the pond was only a foot deep.

One evening, Short Nose came and jumped into the pond, rolling around; Long Nose also came, jumped into the pond, and rolled around.

The two little buddies giggled and rolled around, getting covered in a thick layer of mud.

As the sun set and it got dark, Pig Mom came to the edge of the pond, waved her hand, and called, “Time to go home!”

Long Nose climbed out of the pond and followed Pig Mom step by step.

When they got home, Pig Mom looked at the “son” in front of her and was shocked, “Child, what happened to your nose?” Long Nose didn’t say a word.

Pig Mom asked, “Child, who bullied you?” Long Nose remained silent.

Pig Mom asked again, “Child, tell me! Who pulled your nose so long?” Long Nose still didn’t say anything.

“My child—” Pig Mom cried as she touched Long Nose’s nose, “Who bullied you? Who pulled your nose? Tell Mom.”

Long Nose kept his mouth shut, not uttering a single word.

Pig Mom wiped her tears and took Long Nose out the door.

Meanwhile, Elephant Mom arrived at the pond and called, “Time to go home—”

Short Nose climbed out of the pond and followed Elephant Mom step by step.

When they got home, Elephant Mom looked at Short Nose and widened her eyes, “My dear, what happened to your nose?” Short Nose didn’t say a word.

Elephant Mom asked, “Child, who did you have a fight with?” Short Nose remained silent.

Elephant Mom asked again, “Child, who cut off your nose?” Short Nose didn’t say anything.

“My child—” Elephant Mom cried as she gently touched Short Nose’s nose, “You’ve suffered. Who did this to you? I will find them!”

Elephant Mom took Short Nose out the door.

Under the streetlights on Unity Road in Animal Village, the two moms met. Because they had been running, much of the mud had fallen off their children.

Pig Mom saw the short-nosed piglet behind Elephant Mom, and Elephant Mom saw the long-nosed elephant behind Pig Mom. The two moms understood that at the pond, in the darkness, they had mistakenly taken the wrong children.

It seems that from now on, no matter what you do, you must be more attentive!
