Fun Bedtime Story For Kids

One day, the Big Bad Wolf and his friend the White Wolf were strolling down a path, feeling leisurely and carefree.

The White Wolf asked, “Dear friend, do you know much about chickens?”

The Big Bad Wolf replied, “I have a lot of knowledge about chickens.” He puffed out his chest and acted like a great scholar.

The White Wolf said, “That’s great! Yesterday, a wild chicken flew into my coop. Let’s go take a look.”

The Big Bad Wolf had no choice but to follow the White Wolf to his house. On the way, the White Wolf asked the Big Bad Wolf, “I wonder if the wild chicken lays eggs?”

The White Wolf’s chicken coop was unique; he had made many compartments out of wood and placed them on the straw-covered ground.

When the Big Bad Wolf arrived at the coop, he saw that each compartment had an egg in it! The White Wolf told the Big Bad Wolf that these eggs were called lure eggs, used to entice hens to lay their eggs. Without an egg inside, the hens would fly around randomly.

The White Wolf’s chickens were all white or yellow, but there was one particularly beautiful chicken with colorful feathers and a large, bright red comb standing upright. The Big Bad Wolf saw it and pretended to be very knowledgeable, saying, “Look, that’s a wild chicken.”

The White Wolf said, “Yes, I noticed that too. But can this chicken lay eggs?”

Without thinking, the Big Bad Wolf said, “Of course it can lay eggs.”

“Really?” The White Wolf was delighted.

The Big Bad Wolf grew more confident and said, “Not only can it lay eggs, but the eggs it lays are colored Easter eggs!”

“Ah! Colored Easter eggs!” The White Wolf became excited.

“Just wait until Easter, and you’ll see. It will surely lay colored eggs,” the Big Bad Wolf assured.

After having a meal at the White Wolf’s house, the Big Bad Wolf left. However, he felt uneasy. He had no idea if that chicken could lay eggs or even what kind of chicken it was. So, he hurried to find his friend the Fox and described the chicken’s appearance in detail. The Fox laughed so hard that tears came to his eyes.

The Fox said, “That’s a rooster. How could a rooster lay eggs?”

The Big Bad Wolf exclaimed, “Oh no, I really made a mistake. Roosters can’t lay eggs, but I told the White Wolf that it would lay a colored egg on Easter. What should I do?”

The Fox patted his chest and said, “That’s easy. Early on Easter morning, we’ll sneak into the White Wolf’s coop and place some colored eggs there.”

“You’re so clever,” said the Big Bad Wolf.

The next day was Easter, and the Big Bad Wolf didn’t have a single egg, let alone colored eggs, so he started to worry.

The Fox said, “What’s there to worry about? Isn’t the White Wolf your best friend? Go borrow some eggs from him, and the problem is solved.”

“But the eggs aren’t colored!” The Big Bad Wolf didn’t understand the Fox’s idea.

“Fool, use paint!” The Fox whispered in the Big Bad Wolf’s ear.

The Big Bad Wolf quickly went to the White Wolf’s house.

“Dear friend, can you lend me some eggs?” the Big Bad Wolf asked.

“Of course.” The White Wolf brought out some eggs from his house.

The Big Bad Wolf called the Fox to his house, and they started making colored eggs together. Their eggs turned out beautifully.

Early on Easter morning, the Big Bad Wolf and the Fox sneaked into the White Wolf’s coop. It was just dawn.

Suddenly, the rooster crowed, “Cock-a-doodle-doo!” The White Wolf woke up and jumped out of bed. What was happening so early in the morning? The White Wolf went to the coop and saw two blurry figures. “Who?” He thought it was someone stealing chickens. As he got closer, he laughed, “It’s you two, you scared me,” said the White Wolf.

It turned out to be the Big Bad Wolf and the Fox, who were placing colored eggs in the coop’s compartments.

“Cock-a-doodle-doo!” The rooster crowed again.

The White Wolf laughed. Looking at the colored eggs in the Big Bad Wolf and the Fox’s hands, he deliberately said to the rooster, “So, it’s you, my little rooster. How did you get into my coop? Didn’t you see the two dogs in front of you? Crow a few times for these two dogs.”

“Cock-a-doodle-doo!” The rooster really crowed again.

The Big Bad Wolf shouted at the White Wolf, “Listen, we are not dogs!”

The White Wolf said, “You listen too, this isn’t a wild chicken, and it can’t lay colored eggs!”

The Fox laughed. The White Wolf laughed, and the Big Bad Wolf laughed too. They all found this incident quite amusing.

“Cock-a-doodle-doo!” The rooster crowed again, feeling very happy.

The White Wolf put the colored eggs into a basket and then said to the Big Bad Wolf and the Fox, “Let’s go, buddies. We’ll eat these colored eggs this morning and happily celebrate Easter.”
