Children’s story about spider
Miss Spider dreamed of weaving a perfect and unique web since she was a little spider.
Only a large and strong web could be considered perfect, she thought. When she was old enough to live independently, she sought help from the old witch in the forest.
“The best is what suits you,” said the old witch. However, she still gave Miss Spider a bottle of potion and said, “This is a strengthening potion. Drink it, and you will be able to produce thick and strong silk. But remember: as the potion diminishes, the silk will become less and less and thinner and thinner.”
“I only want the web of my dreams!” Miss Spider drank it without hesitation and immediately got to work.
It was a massive project. Miss Spider selected four big trees in the forest, pulled out the thickest silk, secured it to the first tree trunk, then stretched it to the second, the third, the fourth, and finally back to the first tree. She worked tirelessly, going back and forth for a whole day and night, until she finally wove the largest spider web ever.
Not just any spider could achieve such a feat! As she was admiring her masterpiece, a farmer passed by.
“My goodness, what a strange sight! A spider has woven a huge fishing net! Does it intend to catch fish? Everyone knows you can’t catch fish on big trees. Honestly, I would love to see how many fish this net can catch.”
The farmer quickly took down the web and happily went off to use it for fishing.
“He will surely catch a lot of fish with this net!” Miss Spider watched as her hard-woven web was taken away, feeling a bit dejected. After all, the web had not even caught a single mosquito.
Maybe it would be a good fishing net, but it wasn’t a perfect spider web because no one would use a spider web for fishing.
Perhaps I should weave another web, Miss Spider decided again. This time, it would be high enough so no one could take it away. But the silk ball was already more than half gone, so this web had to be smaller.
Miss Spider chose a tall pine tree and started weaving between its high branches. This web was only half the size of the previous one and was completed in just one day. By evening, Miss Spider could lie on the web and sleep.
Having worked for two whole days and one night, Miss Spider was exhausted and quickly fell into a deep sleep.
When it dawns, I will count how many bugs I have caught. There will be some flies, caterpillars, beetles, and maybe even a dragonfly or two. Hmm, though this web is much smaller than the previous one, it is still a perfect spider web.
Miss Spider was dreaming sweetly when she suddenly felt herself being lifted into the air. What’s happening? Startled, she quickly grabbed a thread and hung onto a branch as she fell, steadying herself to see what was going on.
By now, it was daylight. A little squirrel had jumped onto the web, bouncing, looking around, and then lying on it, rocking back and forth.
“Who put such a fantastic hammock at my doorstep? I could lie here all day and night!”
Miss Spider was stunned. She had woven the web near the entrance to the squirrel’s home last night.
Now, it had become a very comfortable hammock, but it certainly wasn’t a perfect spider web, because Miss Spider didn’t want a playful squirrel bouncing and rocking on it all the time…
Miss Spider quietly climbed down the tree. She had to weave another web. Now, she only had a little bit of silk left. This time, she found a secluded bush and wove a small, delicate, and fine web.
Next to it, she put up a sign that read: This is Miss Spider’s web. Please do not take it or bounce and rock on it. It is only a web for catching bugs.
No one disturbed the web again!
Every morning, Miss Spider would have a cup of dew tea and some bug treats caught in the web. Though small, it was her favorite web, and she was most satisfied with it!
