Friendship Children’s Story

The Flowering Radish

Lately, Little Rabbit had been coming home very late.

Several times, Piglet Dada saw Little Rabbit crouching in the open space outside Candy Elementary School, looking fluffy like a ball of cotton.

Finally, Dada couldn’t hold back his curiosity and asked Little Rabbit, “L-l-little Rabbit, w-w-what are you doing here?”

Little Rabbit looked around mysteriously, shook his long ears, and said, “Dada, I’ll tell you, but you mustn’t tell anyone else.”

Dada nodded vigorously, his cheeks shaking.

Little Rabbit said, “Actually, I planted a radish there! When I was little, I had a dream where a rabbit fairy told me that if a radish could bloom with seven-colored flowers, I would become the most beautiful rabbit in the world. So, I come here every day to watch my radish, waiting for it to bloom.”

That night, Dada asked Pig Mama, “M-m-mama, c-c-can radishes bloom with s-s-seven-colored flowers?”

Pig Mama said, “Silly child, how could a radish bloom with seven-colored flowers?”

Dada frowned. The next day, Dada got up early. He secretly pulled out a big cabbage from Pig Mama’s vegetable garden and began coloring the leaves with markers. First, he colored one leaf red, then one orange, then yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet…

When Dada finished, the cabbage had become a multicolored one, looking like a seven-colored flower.

Dada carefully carried the cabbage to the spot where Little Rabbit always crouched and gently buried its roots in the soil.

Suddenly, it started to drizzle. Dada quickly stretched out his chubby little hands to protect the cabbage. If the cabbage got wet, the seven-colored flower would disappear.

Unexpectedly, the rain became heavier, and the wind started blowing hard. Dada stood there, not daring to move, carefully shielding the multicolored cabbage, hoping to help his friend realize a beautiful dream.

In the wind and rain, Dada’s arms gradually became numb, and his legs grew weaker. Many times, Dada wanted to give up, but thinking of Little Rabbit’s hopeful eyes, he gritted his teeth, straightened his arms, and stood tall.

In the storm, the cabbage seemed to really turn into a seven-colored flower, shining brilliantly.

After a long time, Little Rabbit came hopping over with an umbrella to check on her radish and was surprised to find Dada in the rain, protecting the vibrant seven-colored flower.

Dada smiled with relief and said, “L-l-little Rabbit, look, the seven-colored flower has bloomed. You are the most b-b-beautiful little rabbit in the world…”

With that, Dada collapsed to the ground with a thud, still holding onto the “seven-colored flower.”

The Power of Love

Piglet Dada fell into a high fever after being soaked in the rain and remained unconscious.

Teacher Sheep brought Little Rabbit, Little Dog, Little Monkey, and several other friends to visit Dada.

Little Rabbit’s eyes were red from crying as she recounted how Dada had protected the seven-colored flower to Teacher Sheep and Pig Mama.

Pig Mama sighed and said, “When Dada was little, he spoke fluently. One year, he got caught in heavy rain and came back with a high fever. He was sick for a long time. Since then, he’s been stuttering. It might have affected his brain…”

Teacher Sheep and the friends learned that Dada wasn’t naturally a stutterer. However, they also worried that this high fever might cause further harm to Dada.

Everyone decided to help Pig Mama take care of the sick Dada.

Little Rabbit planted Dada’s seven-colored cabbage flower in a small pot made from an old pumpkin shell and placed it by Dada’s bedside. Thanks to Dada’s careful protection, the seven-colored flower remained vibrant and lively.

The friends cleaned Dada’s room and helped Pig Papa and Pig Mama with household chores.

However, two whole days passed, and Dada still hadn’t woken up. Everyone gathered around Dada’s bedside, at a loss, while Pig Mama worriedly cried.

On the third day, Little Monkey and the friends climbed the beautiful Candy Mountain and picked lots of Dada’s favorite candies, placing them by his pillow. They knew Dada loved candies and hoped the sweet smell would wake him up.

The colorful candies emitted a tempting sweet aroma by Dada’s bed. Dada’s eyes moved under his eyelids, and his little nose twitched.

Everyone held their breath, staring intently at Dada’s face. Dada’s nose twitched again, and he slowly opened his eyes, weakly asking, “Where’s the seven-colored flower?”

Dada woke up! Pig Papa, Pig Mama, Teacher Sheep, and all the friends jumped, laughed, and cheered. Little Rabbit, with red eyes, said, “Dada, the seven-colored flower is blooming well. Look, it’s right by your bed.”

Dada sighed with relief and said, “Oh, that’s good.”

Little Monkey, laughing happily, suddenly stopped and asked, “Dada, why aren’t you stuttering anymore?” Everyone was so happy that they hadn’t noticed Dada wasn’t stuttering!

Just waking up and still dazed, Dada hadn’t realized it either. He moved his mouth in surprise and tried to say, “We are all good friends… We are all good friends! I’m not stuttering anymore! Really, really, I’m not a stutterer anymore! Haha, haha…”

An unexpected high fever had cured Dada’s speech. Pig Papa, Pig Mama, and all the friends shed tears of joy.

Perhaps, this is the power of love!
