Caterpillar Transformation Story
The old spider cobbler was a skilled shoemaker.
Little bugs often came to the spider for shoes.
The cricket said, “Please make me 6 corn husk shoes.”
The little lizard said, “Please make me 4 bean shell shoes.”
There was a caterpillar who also wanted to wear bean shell shoes that would go “clack clack.”
The spider said, “Alright, let me measure your feet. Oh, your little feet are quite chubby. I’ll make your shoes after I finish the centipede’s 42 pairs.”
The caterpillar waited by the side, waiting for the spider cobbler to finish the others’ shoes before making hers.
However, the centipede had so many shoes, 42 pairs! The caterpillar waited and waited. The wind blew against her, and she felt cold.
The caterpillar climbed up a branch and made a cocoon.
“I’ll hide in the cocoon so the wind can’t blow on me,” the caterpillar thought.
The cocoon hung on a thin branch, swaying in the wind.
Finally, the spider finished the centipede’s shoes and began making the caterpillar’s shoes. The spider made little cotton shoes and thought, “The caterpillar’s feet are quite fleshy, so cotton shoes will be better.”
When the spider finished the shoes, he couldn’t find the caterpillar.
So the spider hung the shoes on the branch and thought, “When the caterpillar comes to get the shoes, she’ll see them herself.”
The spider packed up and went home. The little cotton shoes hanging on the branch swayed in the wind.
After some time, the caterpillar turned into a beautiful butterfly and emerged from the cocoon.
The butterfly had forgotten all about wanting shoes. She saw the shoes hanging on the tree and was very happy.
She said, “What adorable cradles! I’ll lay my eggs inside them.”
