Modern fairy tale: Little Red Riding Hood twist

Gratitude

One evening, a hungry Big Bad Wolf was wandering in the forest, hoping to find something to eat. Suddenly, his powerful yawn echoed through the forest. At this moment, he heard a scream and turned around to see a little girl with a red hat and a red cloak, carrying a small basket, walking out of the forest.

“Who are you? What are you doing sneaking around the forest so late?” The wolf was startled and asked nervously.

“Everyone calls me Little Red Riding Hood! Are you the Big Bad Wolf that everyone is afraid of? What are you up to this time?” Little Red Riding Hood hugged her basket, which emitted a tempting aroma, and took a step back.

“Crunchy cookies? I guessed it right, didn’t I?” The wolf sniffed, drooling.

“Correct. But these are for my grandmother, not for you. I’m leaving now, bye.” Little Red Riding Hood slipped into the bushes and disappeared in a flash.

The wolf’s stomach growled louder, and he longed for a strawberry cake. So, he decided to visit an old friend—Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother.

Taking a shortcut, the wolf soon arrived at Grandma’s house. He knocked on the door with a familiar “three long and two short” signal, and Grandma quickly welcomed him cheerfully.

“Grandma, you look great! Do you mind if I visit and have something to eat? I’m starving, and I feel faint and weak…” the wolf said pitifully.

“Come in, come in. I’ll bake you a strawberry cake, your favorite,” Grandma said warmly, treating the wolf like her own grandson.

The wolf loved Grandma’s food, and Grandma enjoyed his visits. She often talked about her granddaughter, Little Red Riding Hood, who visited once or twice a week, bringing delicious food from her mother. Most of the time, Grandma stayed alone in her quiet little house in the forest.

The wolf devoured the strawberry cake and let out a long, satisfied yawn.

“Child, you must be exhausted. It’s dark, and the forest isn’t safe at night. Why don’t you stay here and rest?” Grandma said kindly. “You can wear my pajamas and sleep in my bed. With the flu going around, you might want to wear a mask.”

“Grandma, you’re too kind. I’m honored to stay. But what about you?” the wolf said gratefully, bowing repeatedly.

“I’ll be fine. At my age, I don’t sleep much at night anyway. Besides, I need to organize the wardrobe,” Grandma said generously. “You just rest here.”

So, the wolf put on Grandma’s pajamas, wore a mask, and comfortably lay down in her bed.

Unexpected

Grandma went to the next room to retrieve clothes from the top of the wardrobe. The wardrobe was too high, so she had to stand on a chair to reach. But the box was too heavy, and she slipped, falling into the wardrobe as the door closed. Grandma was knocked unconscious, but the wolf, sleeping soundly, didn’t hear a thing.

Amusing

At that moment, Little Red Riding Hood arrived at Grandma’s house. She pushed open the ajar door and looked for Grandma all over the house, eventually finding “her” sleeping in bed.

The wolf was startled awake by the footsteps.

“Hey, Little Red Riding Hood, what are you doing here?”

“I’m here to visit you, Grandma. Look, I brought cookies from Mom!” Little Red Riding Hood cheerfully exclaimed, as she always did when visiting.

The wolf realized that maybe it was too dark, or perhaps the mask concealed him enough that Little Red Riding Hood mistook him for Grandma. Just as he was about to say something, she interrupted.

“Grandma, why are your eyes so big?” she asked suspiciously.

“Oh, it’s to see my dear more clearly,” the wolf said playfully. “Actually, I am—”

“Grandma, why are your ears so big?” she continued.

“Hehe, big ears bring blessings, but…” the wolf decided to stop teasing her and took off the mask. “Girl, be prepared, I’m the Big—”

Furious

“Big! Your mouth is so big and scary… You’re the Big Bad Wolf!” Little Red Riding Hood was shocked, stepping back and pulling out her phone. “What did you do to my Grandma? I’m calling the police!”

“Wait, don’t be impulsive! Don’t call the police! Your Grandma is organizing the wardrobe. Go check if you don’t believe me!” The wolf was furious, feeling his good mood ruined by this little girl.

Little Red Riding Hood darted to the other room and opened the wardrobe, finding Grandma unconscious inside. She tried to wake her but couldn’t.

“Oh no! Grandma!” Little Red Riding Hood cried, tears streaming down her face. Quickly recovering, she glared at the wolf and immediately dialed 110.

“No! No, no, no!” The wolf was desperate. “Little Red Riding Hood, listen to me, it’s not what you think!”

“Hello, police? There’s a Big Bad Wolf attacking my Grandma’s house. Please come quickly and catch the evil wolf.”

As soon as they received the call, the police arrived at Grandma’s house. The wolf sighed, ready to explain the truth.

Wrongly Accused

But when the police arrived, Grandma was still unconscious. Unfortunately, they believed Little Red Riding Hood’s story.

“Big Bad Wolf, come with us to the station,” a fat policeman said, grabbing the wolf’s collar and swiftly handcuffing him.

“Officer, I’m innocent, I’m being wronged…” The wolf cried, pleading.

“Hmph, not even the animal protection society can save you now!” another skinny policeman sneered, shoving the wolf into the police car.

Watching the police car drive away, Little Red Riding Hood smiled and said to herself, “Yes! Well done, Little Red Riding Hood, you defeated the evil with your wit!” The wolf, meanwhile, regretted his foolishness deeply.
