Fun story for children
The dwarf loves eating pumpkins and plants many of them every year.
The dwarf is very hardworking and industrious. This year, he had a bumper harvest of pumpkins. He counted and found that there were 101 pumpkins in the field.
The dwarf picked one pumpkin and carried it home. The pumpkin was almost as big as his body, and carrying it home was a long and tiring journey.
After carrying the first pumpkin home, the dwarf was sweating all over. He thought, “Oh dear, there are still 100 pumpkins in the field. If I carry them one by one, when will I finish?”
The dwarf thought of a friend—the Bigfoot Giant. Though he was called Bigfoot Giant, his hands were also particularly large. If he could get him to help with the pumpkin harvest, it would be quick.
The dwarf called the Bigfoot Giant, who said, “Haha, harvesting pumpkins? That’s too easy for me. I’ll come right away.”
The Bigfoot Giant arrived quickly. To the dwarf, he seemed enormous.
“Where’s the pumpkin field? Lead the way,” said the Bigfoot Giant.
The dwarf stood on the Bigfoot Giant’s shoulder to show him the way, and they reached the pumpkin field in no time.
The dwarf picked the pumpkins and placed them in the Bigfoot Giant’s hand. With such big hands, he could hold 50 pumpkins at once.
On the way home, the dwarf was very happy. The Bigfoot Giant could carry 50 big pumpkins with just one pair of hands.
Then, the Bigfoot Giant made another trip and brought back the remaining 50 pumpkins.
At this point, the Bigfoot Giant said, “Umm… umm… I think I’m a bit hungry. Can you cook some pumpkin for me to eat?”
“Of course, I’ll cook some pumpkin for you right away.”
The dwarf cooked pumpkin for the Bigfoot Giant.
The Bigfoot Giant was huge, so naturally, he had a big appetite. He ate one pumpkin after another, finding them delicious.
In the end, the Bigfoot Giant ate a total of 100 pumpkins. He said, “Ah, now I’m finally full and can’t eat anymore.”
The Bigfoot Giant went home.
At this point, the dwarf was left with just one pumpkin uncooked. This was his last harvest of the year.
Before going to bed, the dwarf thought, “It seems that next year when it’s time to harvest pumpkins, I’d better carry them home one by one myself…”
