Short story about fishing for children
Beside the forest, there was a small river with many fish swimming back and forth.
One morning, Mama Cat took Little Cat to the river to fish.
A dragonfly flew by, and it was so fun to watch, darting around like a little airplane. Little Cat really liked it and put down the fishing rod to chase the dragonfly.
The dragonfly flew away, and Little Cat couldn’t catch it. Empty-handed, he returned to the riverbank and saw that Mama Cat had caught a big fish.
Little Cat sat by the river to fish again. A butterfly flew by, and it was so beautiful. Little Cat really liked it and put down the fishing rod to chase the butterfly.
The butterfly flew away, and Little Cat couldn’t catch it. Empty-handed, he returned to the riverbank and saw that Mama Cat had caught another big fish.
Little Cat said, “This is so frustrating. Why can’t I catch even a small fish?”
Mama Cat looked at Little Cat and said, “Fishing requires focus. You can’t be distracted. You chase the dragonfly one moment, the butterfly the next. How can you catch any fish?”
Feeling embarrassed by Mama Cat’s words, Little Cat decided to fish with full concentration from then on. The dragonfly flew by again, and so did the butterfly, but Little Cat pretended not to see them and didn’t move.
Before long, hey! The line on the fishing rod sank, and the rod started moving! Little Cat pulled the rod up with all his might, “Oh wow!” A big fish was caught! Little Cat happily shouted, “I caught a big fish! I caught a big fish!”
