A Moving Love Story
Boy: Do you love me?
Girl: I do, but I need to go home now, or my parents will scold me.
Boy: Don’t be afraid, stay a little longer, okay?
Girl: Okay. She stayed quietly in his embrace. They were happy and loved each other deeply.
The boy was a year younger and very poor, but the girl never minded. She memorized every love letter he gave her, burying them deeply in her heart, and vowed to stay with him even if he became a beggar. The boy, equally earnest, promised that if that day came, his first bowl of begged food would be for her.
That night, the wind was strong, and the rain was fierce. The boy, as usual, rode his motorbike to their meeting place and waited for her. He knew she would come because they had promised each other. The girl, thinking he wouldn’t come, felt uneasy and decided to go. From a distance, she saw him soaked in the rain, waiting. Her heart ached. She walked slowly toward him, tears streaming down her face.
The boy saw her, smiled slightly, and embraced her tightly, whispering, “Silly girl!” This phrase carried too much helplessness and reluctance because the girl was leaving the next day for a place she was meant to go. They were still young and innocent, and the pain of separation was unbearable.
Because of the storm, the boy took the girl home. His place was small but beautifully decorated, with every corner designed to touch her heart. He had incorporated everything she had ever said into the room’s design. The dim light was to her liking. They were both scared and ignorant about sex.
The girl, filled with questions about pain and pregnancy, made an unwavering decision to give him her first time despite all the unresolved queries.
She left. Truly left. The boy was heartbroken, more than he had ever been. His heart ached as if cut by a knife. When the girl, with tears and reluctance, left the city, the boy realized she had forgotten her coat at his place. He feared she’d be cold and wanted to return it to her. She had repeatedly told him not to see her off, fearing the sight of their separation would break her heart.
Not knowing when she left, the boy searched every corner of the station and every possible bus, but she was nowhere to be found. Exhausted, he finally gave up.
The girl, deeply hurt, asked, “Do you not want me anymore? Do you no longer love me?” During her absence, she heard many rumors. Friends told her the boy liked a friend or neighbor of hers. Terrified and saddened by this, she rushed to his house without thinking.
The boy, speechless and with tears streaming down, hugged her tightly. After a long while, he said, “I love you. I truly love you. I can’t stand this feeling of separation. Promise me, no matter what happens, we’ll always be together?” The girl, crying, nodded vigorously. She realized how much he loved her.
Time flew by, and they got married. Despite his poverty, their wedding was simple but heartfelt. He told her, “You are the most beautiful bride in the world. I want you to stay with me until we grow old.” They were happy and cherished every moment together.
The girl bore a beautiful daughter for him. Knowing his poverty might make her suffer, he decided to work far away to provide a better life for her and their child. They faced the painful reality of separation again. During his absence, the girl wrote daily diaries, praying for his well-being and quick return. The boy worked tirelessly, driven by the thought of his family.
Gradually, their lives improved with the help of friends. But the boy didn’t know the girl had changed. She no longer loved him the same. Skillfully hiding it, she left one day, claiming to visit relatives. In reality, she sought another man and betrayed the boy. Upon returning, she continued to deceive him, acting as if nothing had changed.
When the boy received a message saying, “I’m no longer in the city. I’m sorry. I don’t ask for your forgiveness. Forget me. You’ll find someone much better than me,” he was devastated. He called her frantically, but she kept hanging up. He texted, “Where are you? I love you. I need to see you. Please don’t leave me and our daughter. She needs her mother. Tell me what I did wrong. I’ll change. Just come back.” The girl’s cold response, “Let me go. I no longer love you. I’ve fallen for another man. Let’s be the best of friends. I’ll always be our daughter’s mother but will never return to you,” shattered him completely.
Crying uncontrollably, he realized love was a game he couldn’t win. The girl’s ruthless abandonment left him and their daughter in pieces. He couldn’t understand what he had done wrong, realizing too late that his deep love was met with betrayal. The memories of their life together only made him understand the harsh truth: The deeply affectionate are always the most wounded in the end.
