Life, We Need to Cherish It

This is a story that happened to a friend. The friend is a male, from a well-off family with parents who work in government departments. He had a failed marriage once because he did not cherish it and was never truly committed to the marriage. His ex-wife could not withstand external temptations and found a new home, so the two amicably agreed to divorce.

This event was a great blow to him. He did not understand before, but as he matured and saw people around him getting married and having children one by one, he increasingly realized the importance of family and responsibility. He also wanted a warm home and a gentle lover, so his elderly parents wouldn’t worry anymore.

Later, he met her. Let’s call her Jing. She was a very quiet girl with a sense of detachment from the world. He did not immediately fall in love with her but developed some fondness. Gradually, he discovered that this girl was very attentive and did not fuss over many things, different from other girls. Only then did he start thinking about marriage. Just when he was about to propose, the girl disappeared. Her phone was unreachable, and she could not be found.

Later, he finally learned from one of her friends that during a company physical examination, Jing was diagnosed with cancer. Although it was not in the late stage, she had only a few years to live. When he saw Jing again, seeing her helpless look, he suddenly made up his mind that he must marry this girl. He said, since you only have these few years left, why not cherish them? We are already in love, why not choose to spend the time with the person you love?

His parents strongly opposed the idea of marrying a girl on the brink of death. After all, he had already been divorced once; if he became a widower again, what other girl would dare to marry him? He insisted on his decision, persuaded Jing and her parents, and held the wedding with the help of his friends.

Three years after the marriage, Jing left this world with a smile. Before she died, she said, thank you to him for giving her the love and warmth she would otherwise never have had.
