The little lion’s hair had grown too long and was covered in dust. Mama Lion had tried several times to take him to get a haircut, but he refused each time. He thought that getting a haircut must be very uncomfortable.
Soon, the little lion’s scalp started to itch. He scratched with his paws and rubbed against tree trunks, but the more he scratched and rubbed, the itchier he got. It was unbearable! Now, he really wanted a haircut. However, he was too embarrassed to ask his mom, so he decided to go by himself.
By the small river at the edge of the forest, there was a “Crab Barber Shop.” A crab, wearing a white coat, warmly welcomed the little lion and invited him to sit in the barber chair.
There was a large mirror on the opposite wall. The little lion saw his reflection in the mirror. “Oh my, my hair is so dirty and messy! No wonder Mama says I’m not hygienic.” He looked around and wondered, “Where are the hair-cutting tools?”
The crab draped a cape over the little lion and then extended its large pincers. “Snip, snip,” and in no time at all, it had cut the little lion’s long hair neatly. Then, the crab brought its long, thin claws together and combed the lion’s hair as if using a comb. “Oh, so that’s how it works,” the little lion thought, watching the crab in the mirror with great interest.
It was time to wash his hair. By the sink, the little lion noticed there was no soap and said to the crab, “My hair is really dirty. It needs soap to get clean.”
The crab smiled and said, “Don’t worry.” It spat out strings of white foam and applied them to the little lion’s head. Then, it used its claws to gently scratch and massage. The little lion’s itchy scalp felt extremely comfortable, and his hair was thoroughly cleaned.
The crab invited the little lion back to the chair and used its pincers to trim his hair once more, then brought its claws together to comb it neatly. “All done,” the crab said. The little lion stood up and looked at himself in the mirror. His previously dirty and messy hair was now clean and tidy, looking beautiful!
The little lion was very pleased! He thanked the crab and happily ran home. He thought, “Now Mama will definitely praise me for being a clean and hygienic good boy.”
