The Frog Doctor Story
The Frog Doctor, known as the most learned and knowledgeable frog in the Frog Kingdom, accidentally fell into a deep well.
The frogs in the well said, “Buddy! Welcome to our ranks of well frogs.”
The Frog Doctor thought, “Being a ‘well frog’ is synonymous with being ignorant and narrow-minded. How can I, the esteemed Frog Doctor, be a well frog?” He hurriedly defended himself, saying, “I am the Frog Doctor, don’t compare me to you well frogs.”
To prove his knowledge, the Frog Doctor held a lecture on encyclopedic knowledge at the bottom of the well. He spoke extensively, covering the sky and the earth, the north and the south, and strange and interesting facts from ancient to modern times. The well frogs listened in awe and praised him repeatedly, saying, “Not simple! Not simple! Truly worthy of being the Frog Doctor.”
The Frog Doctor tried many ways to escape the deep well but couldn’t, so he had to settle down.
After a while, the well frogs invited the Frog Doctor to give another lecture. This time, they found that his lecture was not as good as the last time.
After some more time, the well frogs asked the Frog Doctor to give another lecture, but he was still talking about the same old stuff, without any new content.
The well frogs disappointedly said, “Frog Doctor, can’t you tell us something new?”
The Frog Doctor’s face turned red with embarrassment, and he was speechless. Living in this narrow space, almost isolated from the world, he had unconsciously transformed into a genuine “well frog.”
