The little lion had a big mouth and spoke in a loud voice. His voice was so loud that it could be heard from one end of the forest to the other. His voice was so frightening that it made all the small animals cover their ears. The little lion was quite pleased with himself, thinking: “I have a loud voice. As soon as I open my mouth, they get scared, and I can be first in everything.”

“Ding ding dang dang!” Grandpa came pushing a cart to sell balloons. The balloons were very beautiful, in red, yellow, blue, green, and purple—all colors. All the little animals ran to buy them, surrounding the cart so that it couldn’t move. Grandpa laughed and said, “Don’t rush, don’t rush, line up and buy slowly.” Hearing this, everyone quickly lined up.

The little lion arrived last and was at the end of the line. He stared at the balloons. Oh no! The little rabbit bought the red balloon, the little cat bought the green balloon, and the big tiger bought the blue balloon… only one yellow balloon was left.

The little lion thought: The balloons are almost sold out, I won’t get one. Anxious, he opened his big mouth and roared, “Awooo!” This was terrible; the animals in front all covered their ears and ran away. “Haha,” the little lion felt proud and quickly ran to the front. But when he looked closely, even Grandpa, who was selling the balloons, had run away scared.

The little lion walked away dejectedly. Suddenly, “Boom boom boom!” came the sound of drums. It turned out that Uncle Tall was performing acrobatics with a few little monkeys. The acrobatics were really fun to watch. The little monkeys did somersaults, handstands, and tightrope walking. Everyone clapped enthusiastically.

The little lion stood behind the giraffe and could only hear the cheers but couldn’t see any of the performance. “What should I do?” the little lion wondered anxiously, then opened his big mouth and roared at the giraffe, “Awooo!” This was terrible; the giraffe ran away, and the little monkeys on the tightrope were so scared that they fell to the ground.

Feeling quite disappointed, the little lion decided to go home and sleep. As he walked, he passed a small pond. Uncle Chubby was sitting by the pond fishing. Fishing seemed nice, holding a fishing rod and sitting on the ground, both comfortable and effortless. The little lion borrowed the fishing rod from Uncle Chubby and started fishing as well.

He waited and waited, but the little lion’s fish didn’t bite, while Uncle Chubby had already caught two. “How long do I have to wait?” the little lion wondered impatiently, then opened his big mouth and shouted at the pond, “Awooo!” This was terrible; the little fish that had just swum to the edge flicked their tails and swam away. Uncle Chubby glared angrily at the little lion.

Unable to do anything right, the little lion felt very sad. Kids, can you help the little lion?
